THE MOMENTS IVE BEEN LIVING FOR!

Being a High School S&C Coach has been the dream! Last night I got to experience what I’ve been longing for for a long time. WATCHING ATHLETES THAT I HELP TO PREPARE FOR SPORT BE SUCCESSFUL ON THE FIELD.

Many times as an S&C Coach you hold your athletes to a standard, encourage them to be better, and challenge them in many ways that prepare them spiritually, emotionally, and physically beyond the field. However, there are still games to be played. When game time hits you get to uplift the athletes, be their friend, and approach them in different ways that you don’t in the weight room! This is the rewarding parts of the job.

I am honored to be the Assistant S&C Coach for the Wolves! Very proud of the way they performed last night! Can’t wait to see them run it back next Friday!

TRACK PROGRESS TO EVALUATE YOUR ATHLETES, YOUR COACHING, AND YOUR PROGRAMS.

Tracking progress is important!

By tracking progress we access our athletes stress and also optimize their ability to appropriately meet their intended intensities!

From a coaching standpoint, tracking progress holds us accountable!

Coaching accountability allows us to evaluate our programs from the lens of “Am I doing what is best for the athlete?”

Programming Template for Beginners.

I say beginners because this is an all encompassing template that fits beginners and advanced lifters.

When programming in this style, we can progress the difficulty of each session by increasing load, switching lift variations, playing with rest intervals, tempos, conditioning modality, and many more. However, this system is easily useable for beginners!

I use a variation of this system for all of my clients to support their specific needs and their strength and endurance!

TEMPLATE FOR MAX EFFORT UPPER

1. Choose a Bench Variation and establish a 5RM, 3RM, or 1RM

2. Complete 5 x 6-8 with a primer mover (Back, Shoulders, Triceps)

3. Complete 20-30 challenging Reps of a vertical pull (Pull-up variation, Lat Pulldown)

4. 4 x10-12 of an upper back weakness

5. 4 x 10 Target a specific weakness in the upper body.

6. Accumulate 100 Reps of a Banded Tricep Extension Variation
