Hello Damaged Ear Family!
This weekend 27 wrestlers ended the WA Little Guy Season by traveling to Spokane to compete in the Jason Crawford Memorial Tournament at the Spokane Arena. With over 2000 wrestlers and a big stage, it is the largest youth only tournament in the PNW. 18 athletes wrestled in podium matches and 14 came home with hardware. We couldn't be prouder of everyone who participated for taking on the challenge and leaving it all on the mat!
The conclusion of Wa Little Guy means the end of practices at the Southridge facility for the 2024/2025 season BUT it does NOT mean we stop wrestling! The Benton City facility offers practices and limited tournaments year-round and we are excited to start freestyle practices on TUESDAY!
📢SAVE THE DATE📢
April 14th - No Practice - Rest Day
April 15th - Freestyle Practices Begin at Benton City
May 3rd - Freestyle State Tournament (The Podium, Spokane)
May 18th - Club BBQ and Kickball Game/WLG Awards (Open to ALL DE families - more info to come)
Oct. 1st - Southridge Facility re-opens for the 2025/2026 rec season
**Note...spring and summer tournament dates for freestyle and folkstyle are TBD
We want to thank every wrestler, family member, coach, volunteer, and cheerleader who has supported us as we started this new chapter in eastern Washington wrestling. We know there were some growing pains but know that merging the Southridge and Bent8n City clubs was the right decision. Watching the growth of our athletes and the new friendships and relationships being built is what it's all about and we are incredibly excited for the future.
We hope to see each of you continuing to sharpen your skills on the mat during the off season as we count down the days to the next regular wrestling season.
EARN IT, EVERY DAY!

Hey everyone. The school reached out to let us know that 5th grade choral festival is TOMORROW at SOUTHRIDGE. Because of the size of the event and number of people they need to cancel our Monday practice at Southridge.
Benton City WILL be open for full members and drop ins.
We are sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

❗️❕ATTENTION❕❗️
Hello Families:
We are sure you have heard that we came dangerously close to canceling our entry into this weekend's tournament due to a lack of volunteers. If not for a last minute rally by a few, we would have 25 wrestlers not able to compete this weekend.
It is a requirement that all families volunteer for a minimum of 1 table shift per wrestler during the season. Despite table shifts for every tournament being posted for several weeks, each week we struggle to fill shifts. Ultimately, a few parents have been shouldering the responsibility for the entire club (often giving up time to coach AND work multiple shifts). We all want our kids to have the opportunity to wrestle AND we want to protect the time and ability of all families to watch their children wrestle.
In an effort to avoid last minute scrambles, tournament cancellations , and keep it fair to everyone the following policy has been put in place for the remainder of the season:
📆EFFECTIVE 3/23/2025
Wrestlers will not be allowed to weigh-in at Benton City or Southridge until they have scheduled their minimum table shifts.
Wrestlers weighing in at satellite locations such as Hermiston or The Dalles will not be submitted on a weekly roster until they have scheduled their minimum table shifts.
A list of potentially impacted wrestlers has been sent via email.
Thank you to those who have already worked or scheduled a shift. An even bigger thank you to those who have covered more than your required minimum. Those who have covered extra shifts have reduced the need for other families. This is reflected in the reduced minimums for multi-athlete families in the list above.
If you have not already scheduled your shift please do ASAP. I don't want to tell any wrestler they can't weigh in. Available shifts are available for scheduling at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C094BABAB2BA6F8C07-55175398-2025 #/.
Thank you for your support and commitment to keeping our kids wrestling. As always, if you have any questions or concerns please reach out to a member of leadership.

**TABLE HELP**
We still need 2 volunteers for the morning AND 4 volunteers for the afternoon. If we do not have those spots filled by tomorrow night, we will not wrestle on Saturday. As a reminder, all families are required to complete 1 table shift per wrestler this season. If you have not already, please sign up for your shift at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C094BABAB2BA6F8C07-55175398-2025
**BRACKETING AND SCORING**
NOTE... THERE ARE NO GIRLS' BRACKETS THIS WEEKEND. Everyone will wrestle in a co-ed bracket.
Brackets this weekend are traditional, double elimination brackets but please check with a coach before you leave even if you think you are done.
The tournament will be ran through usabracketing.com again. If you have not already, please set up your account ASAP. USA bracketing does give you the option to purchase text messages (I think it's around $6 for 250 which is plenty for the season.) I can't recommend this option enough. If you have purchased text messages you will receive a text when your wrestler is in the hole (2 away) so you know you are almost up and to head to the mat. THE TEXTS SAVED ME LAST WEEKEND with the terrible service and no internet. It is WORTH it! It is much easier than trying to refresh the website a million times.
**UNIFORMS**
Per league rules, everyone is REQUIRED to be in a Damaged Ear team singlet. If you have not yet purchased your singlet, please reach out to Coach Kearney at 541-868-6911.
If you have any Damaged Ear swag (tshirts, bags, etc) please make sure to wear that too.
**Note...wrestling shoes and head gear are REQUIRED for participation in WA Little Guy.
**REMINDERS**
- Please let us know by 8:00am if you won't be able to make it so we can scratch you from the tournament.
- Do NOT wrestle without a coach. If you are up and do not have a coach let the table help know you are waiting for your coach.
- Two gyms this weekend! If you are willing to go early and reserve a team seating area (when doors open at 7:30a) please let Nicole know. She will get you plastic table cloths to reserve rows. We are a wrestling FAMILY so we want to try to stay together and cheer eachother on.
- Be patient and flexible. If you are confused or need help, ask questions. There are lots of people willing to help!
As always, if you have any questions please reach out to a member of leadership.
Families:
Due to a scheduling conflict and miscommunication tonight's pictures are canceled. We will reschedule and let you know the new date ASAP.
There WILL be practice and weigh ins AS USUAL at Southridge tonight.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
REMINDER!!!
No KSD School = No Southridge Practice. Benton City IS open tonight!
