Today I did my first workout as a 68 year old and starting to wonder if I spend to much time on "working out" and if it is really worth it. So far I've walked the dog, stretched, did 10 minutes of Yoga and an arm workout (part of which was tug of war with Duce :). Next I'm off to Planet Fitness for 45 minutes of cardio.

The answer for me is; Yes it is worth it. Besides the physical benefits, I'm reducing my chance of developing Alzheimer's, working on my balance, and I'm able to do whatever I want (within reason) with the rest of the day,

None of use can be sure how much time we have, but it is not selfish to take time for ourselves everyday to make sure we make the most of the time we have left.

Google and YouTube are great resources, but sometimes it is not only okay, but required to ask for help. I really wanted to finish the remodel of the bathroom myself. But I realize that the expertise required was not in my reach. I'm sure eventually I could tile around these holes, but I'm hiring a professional to finish this wall.

We are into the 2nd month of the year and time to do a resolution check. Personally my goals have evolved. I have not kept up with what I wanted to work on this year, but rather my goals have changed.

Remember, you don't need to only make resolutions on January 1, every day is a good day to look at where you are and see how (and why) you want to change.

Here is a couple of easy hints for the holiday season;

If you are going to a holiday party/dinner, have a healthy snack before hand, this will help you with portion control.

If you are hosting a holiday event, set aside an empty plate for your pre-party snacks Instead of sampling while putting out the food you can mindfully decide what "samples" you want without overindulging

Here’s a hint for anyone living in a cold area, especially if you live alone: if you go outside, even just to take the garbage out make sure you have your cell phone with you in case you hit a patch of ice and fall.
