Club Express, through which we run our KYC webpage is down. They are working to repair it. In the meantime, we cannot send out our usual announcements to membership. So please please take note: The monthly KYC member meeting will take place at KYC on Tuesday June 16 @ 6:30pm in the dining room. Aragon will be serving food so come hungry. A full announcement will be made as soon as Club Express is up and running. We hope to see you there. Please share this information with your KYC friends who may not see this message. Thanks.

Since 1985, 𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 near the mouth of the Pike River in Kenosha, despite posted warnings.
The water here may look calm, but hidden currents make it extremely dangerous.
𝗛𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀. 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘄𝗶𝗺.

Congrats to KYC member John McFadden who was the 100th boat entered in the Queens Cup and won the treasured bottle of Mount Gay rum. The secret is out John, we know you will share your rum with us at KYC!

Kenosha Yacht Club’s very own Ron Otto!

Next on deck in our Skipper Profile series is Ron Otto, owner/skipper of Takedown-2 from Kenosha Yacht Club. An interesting thing about Ron is his involvement in GLSS. That's the Great Lakes Singlehanded Society. And yes, he's registered for the 2026 Solo Mac. We wish you safe sailing and a speedy return to start the Queen's Cup! Here is Ron, in his own words. Hello. This is Ron Otto from the Kenosha Yacht Club.

Started Racing at age 60 - late starter after retiring from teaching and coaching. Home Port for both boats raced is Somers, WI - basically my back yard on the lake. Actually, birthed at Kenosha Southport Marina.

Starting in 2011 on Elite-30S BonTemps (It ees a French batteaux, N'est-ce Pas?) -
Five Short Handed races including 1 solo.

2016 - present on J/110 Takedown-2 (there is no Takedown-1, 2 pts for a takedown in wrestling) :
4 shorthanded + 2 PHRFs = 6 flag places.

3 DNS races due to not making it back in time from the GLSS Solo Mac race. (You’re welcome for the contribution!).
