Both the youth and high school Pitchers/Catchers program will begin Saturday, January 27th. This program will be open to 9U-18U pitchers/catchers and players will be grouped up based on age. The High School Pitchers/Catchers program will be 7-weeks while 9U-14U will be 9-weeks! Check out the coaching information below to see who will be involved in running/organizing this program!

Pitching
- Coach Amador Diaz- He will lead the pitching piece...Sluggers Lead Pitching Trainer, Byron Center High School Baseball Coach, and Driveline Certified.
- Coach Andrew Downer- Sluggers Pitching Coach and current Davenport University Assistant Pitching Coach.
- Coach Ben Sheckler- Sluggers Pitching Coach, former 8th round pick in the San Diego Padres Organization.
- Coach VanWinkle- Sluggers Pitching Coach and has coached all levels of travel baseball ranging from 9-18U.

Catching
- Coach Zachary Brooks- He will lead the catching piece...Sluggers Lead Catching Coach, East Kentwood High School Varsity Assistant Coach.
- Coach Ben Coble- Sluggers 18U Select Coach/trainer and current Davenport University Catcher.
- Coach Brendan Lacey- Sluggers Catching Coach, former semi-pro catcher, NASM Certified.
- Coach George Cutler- Former Cornerstone University Catcher, current Davenport University Catching Coach and Sluggers Trainer.

Good afternoon Sluggers Family. As we go into the Christmas and New Year we do not want to lose focus on in our community and assisting those in need. We continue to strive as an organization that has core values that reach far deeper and further than baseball.

12U and 15U team is leading another can drive and fundraiser where all proceeds will benefit AYA Youth Collective which is a Grand Rapids based non-profit organization that provides care and resources to homeless teens and young adults in the community. They assist with clothing, housing, meals, and employment needs.

Last year we were able to raise over $1,500 which went towards purchasing coats, daily hygiene essentials, emergency blankets, clothing, and $500 to assist a young family who had lost everything in a trailer fire a few days before Christmas. The boys also were able to tour AYA’s facility and learn first how their efforts were assisting other youth in their community.

This year we are inviting everyone to do what they can to assist by collecting cans at home or in their neighborhood and returning them or sharing this message with friends and family as they can donate what they can to Venmo account (please put AYA in the note if donating towards this cause). You may also turn in the proceeds of your can collection to the Venmo account, drop off money at Sluggers office, or bring your cans to the facility and Coach Diaz will take care of them. Coach Diaz’s players went out to several neighborhoods in the Byron Center area on Saturday 12/9 to collect cans!! They started the fundraising push and look forward to raising more for a great cause!

Donations and returns will be accepted through 12/21/2023 so that items can be purchased and delivered to AYA before Christmas if possible. Thank you and God Bless you and your family.
