No stirrups November. The good. The bad. And the ugly.

1. If you can't post trot... you are not ready to ride without stirrups. That would be BAD.

2. If you cannot sit trot without grabbing saddle... you are not ready to ride without stirrups. Again. BAD idea.

3. However... If you can post rythemically with stirrups. GOOD! You should be riding without stirrups often. (Not just in November) ;)

Riding without stirrups will strengthen your base of support.

Because it isolates your inside thigh muscle and exercises it. Which is GOOD... because frankly... nothing we do in our daily routine works inside thigh like riding without stirrups.

Riding without stirrups will improve your core strength.

Which will make you a better passenger.

And that is our primary goal.

And Dobbie clocking over 2'6. Funny how she goes from giant murph to Itty bitty dobbie. We had a good giggle at this. Sound track is priceless.

Busy few weeks:

For starters we are very excited about welcoming our new horse bus. We named her, "Elly." Looking forward to years of traveling together.

We also just finished arena rehab. Pulled the trees on far end, added new jumps and painted our old ones. Also added some fresh footing.

Thanks to everyone who helped!

Upcoming Event Details

Here are some horse events we are interested in. Thank you Clair for compiling this info.

Farmington HP at Mint Meadows - June 6, 2020. First riders out at 9:00 am. All details at this link, including registration form: https://www.farmingtonhunt.org/events/upcoming-event-details. It is posted in a 'private' FB group, so that will be hard to share. I've been to this one and it's a nice property; also nearby (probably 30-40 min). Do NOT use GPS to get there. Supposed to register and pay online by June 3.
Middlebrook HP - June 6-7, 2020; they only have FB page with all event details. I attached the registration form and waiver to this email. Nice paces but I would probably go to the Farmington one on June 6 (it's quite a bit closer). These first two HPs both happen on June 6: https://www.facebook.com/MiddlebrookHoundsHuntClub
Glenmore Murder Mystery Ride - June 13, 2020. Everyone starts at the same time - 1:15 pm. Claire has done this one--it's a gorgeous farm with nice jumps. There is no course; you just ride around the farm and talk to other teams to show cards like in Clue. MUST REGISTER ONLINE (I ALREADY REGISTERED THE TWO OF US): https://www.glenmorehunt.org/murder-mystery-ride
Glenmore HP - June 27, 2020. First riders out at 9:00 am. https://www.glenmorehunt.org/fall-hunter-pace
Middlebrook also has other paces all at the same place: July 18-19, August 15-16, Sept. 19-20. They are on both days each time. https://www.facebook.com/MiddlebrookHoundsHuntClub

I'm flattered to report lesson schedule is filling up and I'm not even home yet.

Jan 20th is our next off school holiday. Pony Pact parents can drop their kids before work in morning. We are having a reunion and 2020 planning party.

If you haven't already done so please visit our new website. www.homeportstables.com
