I designed what's known as a tensegrity table. The idea behind it is there is no solid connection between the top and bottom and with the proper tension, the top doesn't move except very slightly and its only a minor wiggle. Also, in the proper light or with the proper background, the wires will disappear completely making the top appear to hover magically.
Unfortunately, my design using wood for the supporting vertical structure does not provide enough structural integrity to support the weight of the top. In my tests, the wood sheared along a grain line.
The other pictures are the new "improved" version using wood. 1.5" post supporting the top with black wire rope stabilizing the outer corners.

Thanks to everyone who has "liked" Wood Masters in the last few weeks. I have finally come to a point where the major repairs and updates for my house are mostly finished and I can start focusing on Wood Masters, again. If you are looking for furniture, please let me know how I can help!

The new shop in Keystone is pretty much done. I am now looking for customers! Come one, come all!
Wood Masters will be focusing on a few items that can be batched out quickly and easily. First, blanket racks, then rod holders, then hanging pot racks. Additionally, Wood Masters will be concentrating on kitchen tables as the big money makers. Finally, I will be doing furniture plans to sell on the website.
If you have any ideas for items than can be batched out, shoot me a message or reply to this post. There might be an incentive in it for you if I use your idea! 😉😉😉

Got an idea you want turned into reality? A customer brought me an old wine barrel and wanted dog beds made out of it. Here's the result!
One of the coolest things about this project is that while sanding the inside of the barrel, you could smell the wine!

These are three basic table or chair leg designs. The first and strongest is the Mortise and Tenon joint in the first picture. The second is a simpler Rabbet joint where the leg over laps one or both of the table top supports in the corner. The third is simply screwing the leg onto the table top supports using pocket screws.
