Professional horse trainer, wildlife educator, and founder of KHH, an equine-assisted learning and Therapeutic nonprofit. We carry CURRENT CHA (Certified Horsemanship Association) Upper Instructor levels 3 in English, Jumping, Western disciplines as well as Riders with Disabilities. We are home to some of the greatest Certified Therapy/Lesson horses that can, have, and will continue to change the lives of those they touch.

While feeding horses at Kingman’s Healing Hooves in Kingman, Arizona, the sky over the arena turned into one of those sunrises you stop working to watch.
Morning feeding, horse care, checking water, cleaning, and preparing the ranch all happen before lessons begin. Some mornings, Arizona gives us quite a view while we work.

This is ranch life before the riders arrive.

Willa has many jobs, first and foremost, she is an amazing mobility service dog for Lindsey to detect oncoming Dystonic storms and POTS symptoms.

She keeps all of the feral cats off the property, GREETER of all the families coming for lessons AND encourager for the kids that are being tutored.

WHO knew she could dance?

Before I ever get in the saddle, I want to know what the horse is telling me from the ground.

Groundwork helps me evaluate focus, responsiveness, movement, and how the horse responds to direction before adding a rider.

These exercises are more than getting a horse to move their feet. They help establish communication, reinforce cues, and give me information about where the horse is mentally and physically before we ride.

Good horsemanship starts long before your foot reaches the stirrup.

At Kingman’s Healing Hooves, we teach riders to understand the horse first, because learning to ride starts with learning how horses think, move, and communicate.

We gave our miniature Zebu bull a new scratching post. Apparently, it needed to survive a few charges before earning his approval.

After showing it who was boss, Titus figured out the important part... SCRATCHES!

Briley and Charmer were both ready to get back to lessons.We have been off for the 2 weeks we had Heat Advisories. We have to keep in mind, the horses are the backbone of our program. If its too hot for us, its too hot for them. Good job Briley!

Groundwork is one of the foundations of good horsemanship.

Before asking a beginner rider to communicate with a horse from the saddle, we work on communication from the ground. The rider learns how body position, pressure, release, timing, and clear direction influence the horse’s response.

Then we take those same concepts into the saddle.

This type of progression helps our riders develop confidence, coordination, leadership, and an understanding of horse behavior instead of focusing only on riding.

At Kingman’s Healing Hooves, our lessons combine horsemanship education, horse behavior, Equine Assisted Learning, and hands-on experience.

Beginner Horsemanship Tips

We have gained quite a few new followers, this was featured throughout The Home Depot closed circiut television nation wide. There is a disclaimer at the beginning, it was just before the covid shut-down.
