Friday recap 7/31

We started off the day with immense speed at the top of the board in first practice despite some issues out of our control.

Qualifying is where things took a turn for the worst. Upon throttling up the driver noticed an immense loss of power and brought it in.

Upon inspection it was found that we had a failure in our rocker arms. We went to work rushing to make the proper engine repairs and the track was kind enough to swap the order to help up. Unfortunately the repairs were not enough and caused another issue to arise we couldn't fix at the track, making it impossible for our engine to run the race.

Thinking our night was over we began to load up when our AMAZING friend Jay Swecker offered up his car for Ryan to go out and run for points. His selflessness as a competitor had us moved, stating that 'we had more to lose'. His crew went to work to help get the driver fitted for the car and we started in the back. We were able to pilot the 77 car home to a nice 5th place.

As we have mentioned before, it is our goal for our program to be independent as possible. However there are simply certain scenarios when no amount of preparation can save you from something that an amazing friend can. We are beyond blessed and very thankful for the opportunity and trust to help nurse or season along for another race.

Thank you again to Jay Swecker, Tyler Swecker, and Josh Collins for your friendship. It is truely invaluable.

Well, thats one way to make the news!

After last week, we had a one week turn-around to get the car back together. Thanks to the great selection of parts Roger Clendenin has on hand at RCR in Church Hill, we were able to make quick work of it and bring the 71 back to life!

We started the day off chasing a hard push on center off like much of the rest of the field. With the problem persisting through practice we made an adjustment that didnt help. We ended up qualifying 6th and were not deterred. We threw the kitchen sink at it making a handful more adjustments and after the rain delay when we finally went green after midnight, the car began to hook up GREAT. We began cutting though the field and outlasting others and ended the night in 2nd place while chasing down the leader. It's been a hard week for sure, but the result was gratifying. Jason Herron was back on the spotters stand as usual and helped guide the car through traffic with ease. If you've ever had the pleasure of having him in your ear for a race you know how valuable he is and we are so lucky to have him with us.

Tough luck last Friday night. Fastest in practice, on the pole, made less than a lap in the race before tearing the front end off. You'll have those days.

Thank you to everyone who jumped in to help us make a few more laps. Tristen and Kyle Barnes and their crew jumped in to help any way they could and we are extremely appreciative of their sportsmanship.

Marty Robinson and the 7 crew did their part in helping, I also noticed several JLM guys in our pit like David Wright and also Derek "Bigfoot" Lane coming in clutch with a sawzall with the butter knife attachment.

Thank you to any others that helped us in the pits. As a 2 man team, its greatly appreciated.

We will rebuild and be back when we're ready.
