And just like that… the 2026 Kingston Community Pool season has come to an end.
It feels like just yesterday we were unlocking the gates, filling the snack bar, getting the chairs out, and wondering how it was already summer.
Then suddenly, we blinked.
And somehow, we made it through an entire season of cannonballs, swim tests, pool parties, lost goggles, forgotten towels, weather apps, thunder delays, snack bar runs, lifeguard whistles, and children asking, “WHEN CAN WE GET BACK IN?!” approximately four seconds after adult swim started.
There were hot days.
There were cold days.
There were rainy days.
There were days when Mother Nature clearly had absolutely no respect for our operating schedule.
But most importantly, there were good days.
There were kids who became a little braver in the water.
There were friendships made around the pool that might never have happened anywhere else.
There were families spending summer afternoons together, teenagers hanging out with their friends, little ones splashing in the shallow end, and familiar faces walking through our gates day after day.
There were pool parties, glow sticks, celebrations, laughter, music, and enough wet footprints to last us until approximately 2037.
And somewhere in between all of that, another summer becomes a memory.
That's the funny thing about the Kingston Community Pool.
It's technically just concrete, water, chairs, fences and buildings.
But when you fill it with people, it becomes something completely different.
It becomes the place where someone learned to swim.
The place where kids spend their summer vacation.
The place where teenagers had their first summer job.
The place where families cooled off after a long day.
The place where someone sat in the same chair every afternoon, talked with the same group of people and probably complained about the temperature of the water at least once.
It becomes part of growing up in the Kingston Community Pool family.
To our members, residents, guests and families — thank you.
Thank you for spending your summer with us. Thank you for supporting the Kingston Community Pool. Thank you for coming to our events, laughing with our staff, being patient when Mother Nature changed our plans, and continuing to make our little community pool such a special place.
And to our 2026 pool staff and lifeguards — thank you for everything.
You worked long, hot days.
You watched thousands of swimmers.
You cleaned things you probably wish you could forget.
You answered the same questions hundreds of times.
You dealt with heat, rain, thunder, crowds, parties, little kids, big kids, adults who sometimes act like little kids, and everything else summer threw at you.
But you also helped create a safe, fun place for our community to spend their summer.
And we hope someday, when you're older, you'll look back and realize that these summers working at the Kingston Community Pool were pretty special too.
Today, the whistles will blow for the last time in 2026.
The gates will close.
The chairs will eventually be stacked away.
The pool will get quiet.
And for those of us who spend months preparing for summer and then practically live at the pool once it arrives, that quiet always feels a little strange.
But we know something else, too…
Before we know it, winter will turn into spring.
We'll start talking about memberships.
Someone will ask, “When does the pool open?” way earlier than necessary.
We'll start getting everything ready.
And those gates will open again.
So, this isn't really goodbye.
It's just…See you next summer.

We hope you made some memories here this summer. We certainly did.
