Good times were had at the for the dove season opener. They were flying now they’re in the freezer.

Twas the night before dove season, when all through the ranch there were tons of birds sleeping all perched on their branch.

Field bags and buckets were chock full of shells awaiting morning to unleash some hell.

Hunters sat around and drank wh***ey telling old lies; knowing good and well that in the morning if it flies it dies.

Some Hunters will shoot limits missing just a few birds and some will miss plenty and claim those that aren’t theirs.

Other Hunters may not make the morning hunt due to too much libation and their headaches the cause of their afternoon frustration.

But others will load the coolers, the buckets and the dogs in the dark; for they head out for a Hunters New Year’s Day to embark.

It is New Year’s Day for those who harvest from the field, a day that signals your Hunter’s yearly yield.

Birds, Bows, then ri**es and bucks; if you like football you’re truly in luck.

It’s the greatest time of year for this gun wielding group; men, woman and children make up America’s hunting troop.

So grab that old sh***un fill her with lead; grab that old cooler and fill it with b**r; it’s that time, the day is finally here.

God bless your aim and keep you safe but if you can’t shoot straight keep a few cold for me, raise a glass and I’ll meet you at the gate. -THH
