Kirkwood Riptides

Some of our Riptide swimmers were at a different kind of race this morning - the Macklind Mile - where they may have seen Coach Andrew compete in the Men’s Competitive Mile. Coach Andrew placed first in his age group (and second overall) with a blazing fast time of 4:16! Congratulations to Coach Andrew, his pup Ruby (who also ran in her own race), and all the Riptides that ran at this fun yearly event.

Practice Cancelled (Wed, June 17th): For the safety of our swimmers, families, and coaches, we are cancelling this evening’s Riptides practice.

While we normally don’t cancel practices preemptively, our coaches have been keeping an eye on the radar. With Kirkwood under a tornado watch, it looks like the worst weather may hit right at practice time. We hope all our families can stay off the roads during these potentially hazardous conditions. Thank you for your understanding. Stay safe!

Congratulations on a great first meet, Riptides! Both our Swim and Dive teams came in first tonight with great performances, enthusiastic team spirit, and stellar sportsmanship.

Don’t forget that tomorrow (Tues, June 9th) is Picture and Donut Day! Check your email for more details, including adjusted practice times for some of our swimmers. There will be group photos and the opportunity for individual photos. After their photos, each swimmer can grab a donut.

UPDATE: ALL MORNING PRACTICES ARE CANCELLED TODAY - MONDAY, JUNE 8th.

We will see you this evening at the Kirkwood Aquatic Center at 5:15 pm for our first dual swim meet of the season! Dive meet information will be sent via email as well. Go Riptides!

Original post: All 8:30-9:30 AM swim and dive practices are cancelled due to inclement weather. We will keep an eye on the weather and communicate any additional changes to today’s practice schedule as soon as possible.

UPDATE (posted at 8:10 AM): PRACTICE IS ON! We are planning to run the rest of this morning’s practices as scheduled (8:30 AM and onward). As always, if something changes with the weather, we will follow our regular weather guidelines. Let there be sunlight! Note: Please do not feel pressure to attend this practice if you prefer to take the morning off - you should always make the choice that is in the best interest of your swimmer and family.

PRACTICE (7:30-8:30 AM) CANCELLED: Due to inclement weather, the 7:30-8:30 AM Kirkwood Riptides practice is cancelled today (Mon, June 1st). Decisions about later practices will be made as the morning progresses. Please keep your eye on your emails and check the rainout line. Rain, rain, go away!
