In just âď¸ 5 âď¸ rides!
Yes, in just five rides this 4 year old mare made a drastic adjustment in her way of going thanks to clear and consistent feel and good timing. She shows so much potential to transform into a darling prospect with a good attitude and willingness, she simply had never been shown the correct way. Really excited to see where this one goes in her sixty days here.

An old friend is here for a visit!
Any guesses who she is?!
Getting to tune up and play with this good boy has been so much fun. What a great horse that tries hard and oozing with some talent. I canât wait to watch his owner Katie Frank get to enjoy him in some ranch riding soon.

Come on a ride with me & Colbyđ¤
Colby is the type to remind me why I love a good gelding. Shows up ready to work and do his best every day and really appreciates a good head scratch and a cookie!
In just under twenty ridesâŚ
Callahan, this super massive almost 18hh 4yr thoroughbred, went from a complete lack of shoulder control, (which makes it nearly impossible for any effective steering) leaning down heavily into my hand and falling on the forehand, lacking impulsion, and lacking confidence in his own abilitiesâŚ
To picking himself up, lightening his front end and being able to move his shoulders, stopped lugging on the bit, and learned he is capable of cantering under saddle in a smaller space.
Canter is the most difficult gait to develop. Horses need impulsion and balance and to be mentally at ease. Any holes in your foundation will quickly become glaringly obvious when you try to canter. Hence him running into the wall, Callahan didnât really understand how to steer from his shoulders and maneuver them under his riders body. We spent a lot of time educating him about the outside rein, performing counter archs and figure eights and other steering exercises to get him to stand up beneath me and stay upright and balanced between my legs and reins.
While these types of things require way more than 20 sessions to see truly profound, lasting results, some holes in the foundation have been patched and now Callahan has a great start to his education to continue improving with consistent efforts moving forward.

âAnother Day in the Lifeâ
Callahan earned a solid A+ today â when it was time to be caught, he came running right over and happily followed me around, eager and ready to work. He moved beautifully through his maneuvers, with a big focus on shoulder control, balance, and engaging his hind end. To top it off, he volunteered as a demonstration horse for Colby, confidently showing that tarps and ropes are nothing to be afraid of. Brave, willing, and thoughtful â exactly what we love to see. đ´
Colby, however, chose a different lesson plan and decided today was the perfect day to play âyou canât catch me.â Unfortunately for him, that choice led to a much more challenging workout than simply going for a ride would have been. He spent some time observing (and snorting dramatically) from the corner as Callahan tackled my âvery scaryâ tools like a pro. Once the work was done, curiosity won out and Colby wandered over to investigate them himself⌠turns out they werenât so scary after all.
⨠Big takeaway: good choices make for easy days, and curiosity paired with consistency builds confident, thinking horses. Proud of both boys for the lessons they learned today â even if they learned them in very different ways. Make good choices!
