Day 4: AIA 6th Annual Championship Baseball / Softball Camp. Good weather return, as well as a lot of good work. Yes, it was hot but the campers continued with a great effort.

Today’s “Life Talk Segment” - was given by Armstrong County Sheriff Deputy Mark Brice (huge baseball fan) and his K-9 partner Loki. Deputy Brice talked about Loki and his intense training and preparation is very similar to the training and preparation that ball players need to be successful of the field. Deputy Brice and K-9 Officer Loki are trained in suspect apprehension, drug detection, tracking, and building/article searches.

Campers asked a lot of great questions and witnessed some command demonstrations of Deputy Brice (handler) and K-9 Loki.

Thank you Deputy Brice and K-9 Loki for stopping by camp and spending time with our campers.

Day Three: The weather threw us a curveball this morning, but we made scheduling adjustments to get our work in and maybe got a little wet.

Today’s “Life Talk” was a Q and A session with our junior coaches. Our junior coaches talked about the importance of doing well in the classroom, self-care, being a multi-sport athletes, the work they put in beyond typically practices, interests outside of sports, and career paths.

Day two: In the books.

Today’s Life Talk segment:

We welcomed Lt. Joseph ZANDARSKI of the Pennsylvania State Police. Lt. ZANDARSKI, played both football and baseball at Highlands High School and pitched at Mississippi State and Slippery Rock University before moving onto serve in our U.S. Military. He has been a trooper for 23 years.

In addition, campers were instructed by AIA hitting coach Pete Harmon on hitting mechanics.

A lot of smiles and good effort happening so far at day 1 and day 2 of camp.
