This is the brilliant daughter of Powder River’s two-time world champion mare, 24 year old Miss Congeniality and Vold’s world champion gelding Bobby Joe Skoal. SO many questions, right? Miss C lives at Timber Creek Veterinary Hospital with a couple dozen other mares of royal descent. When the time is right, she stands quietly in the stocks while an egg is flushed. That egg is fertilized then implanted in a young mare with all of the qualities a great broodmare needs. (That recipient mare shown here.) Her gelding daddy? Well, that was Bobby Joe in his first incarnation. Responsible horsemen geld stallions as weanlings — long before they mature into the work they were bred for. Not a horseman alive hasn’t looked at a great, aged gelding and wished he could turn back time and spare him the knife. That was the case with Harry Vold and his Bobby Joe Skoal. Science and the brilliant Dr. Gregg Veneklasen entered the picture just before old age was to take Bobby Joe from this world — before Harry Vold would follow him. A sliver of skin was excised from the great old gelding and from that, Dr. V and the science of cloning produced his clone. The stallion nicknamed Shrek.
