Every swim teacher was once the little swimmer in the water.
The one learning how to float, how to trust the water, and how to believe they could do it.
These photos remind me that before I was teaching lessons, I was the swimmer being supported, encouraged, and guided through those same moments.
Now I get to be that person for my students.
Every lesson is more than learning a skill, it’s helping little swimmers build confidence, feel brave, and feel safe in the water.
And it’s a responsibility I never take lightly. 🩵🤍

It’s been 3 years without you, but I feel you in every lesson I teach.
Your patience lives in the way I guide a nervous child to take that first float.
Your calm is in the soft words I use to help them trust the water.
Your warmth is in every high-five, every smile, every “you did it!”
You taught me to lead with kindness and to meet others with grace — and I carry that with me, every single day in the pool.
Your love still ripples through everything I do. 💙
I love and miss you so much, Mom. Thank you for all you have done.

This photo says a thousand words. 🥹
When parents place their little joys in my arms, they’re teaching them what trust feels like — that it’s safe, that it’s gentle, and that it shows up with love every time.
Earning the trust of the parents is the first step of the swim journey, but earning the trust of their child? That means everything.🫶🏻
…and when children just feel the urge to embrace me without hesitation or on demand, that’s when I know I’ve earned their trust. 🩵
Love all of these precious little souls with all that I got ❤️

I’ve been reflecting lately on the journey of this precious small business of mine. Everyday is a learning opportunity. I learn so much on how to be better, make appropriate changes, and set myself up for challenges to achieve. It’s been nothing but a beautiful experience. Mostly because I get to wake up and do what I am so passionate about, but also, because I’m making a difference in these little soul’s lives. There’s nothing more fulfilling than being able to help others and push them to their greatest potential.
And also, none of this would even be remotely possible if it wasn’t for the support of my swim families. The trust you pour into me with your precious little loves is the first big step in our swim journey, and I’m so incredibly fortunate for you all. 🩵🫶🏻

The industry I am fortunate to be apart of is so incredibly special. There are so many talented folks in the Knoxville area who put the same amount of time, patience, dedication, passion, and pride in what they do. At the end of the day, we all have the same goal of helping children learn the most important life saving skill 🫶🏻 kudos to you, swim instructor pals!!
Again, Thank you thank you thank YOU!! 🙏🏻 💙

My favorite words (and most repeated) are GROWTH & PROGRESSION 📈 and here’s my why:
This little one started lessons when he was 10 months old and the commitment, trust, patience, and dedication from his mama and himself to swim lessons is WHY he is swimming the way he is now at 3 1/2 years old.
Hudson tried a different approach of swim lessons before starting with me- it wasn’t a good fit for both Hudson and his mama. And yes, his mom had to get in the pool for the first many sessions to help ease his comfort, but, with time growth allows one to progress. And yes, he cried, a lot.
Trusting the process is key 🔑. I’ve also said it many times as well- all children learn at their own pace and in their own ways, and that’s what makes their progression and growth a beautiful thing to witness as their teacher.
