A big thanks to everyone that helped out with the homecoming parade, varsity concessions, and chain gang on Friday. We also hosted the final week of flag games on Saturday at Dennis Larson Field. Comment with photos from the weekend!

Homecoming info…please read the notes below for this week’s homecoming activities.

Parade info…we will line up the trailers in the northeastern corner of the KHS parking lot. Please drop your players/cheerleaders off between 1:30-1:45pm, and pick them back up in the same spot immediately following the parade.

Concessions…Knoxville JFL has helped with concessions at the KHS Varsity Homecoming game for the last several years. This is a nice fundraising opportunity for our program, and a fun way to participate in the homecoming game! We need about 10-12 volunteers to help out, and a couple of older kids are welcome to help run drinks and candy. Please comment on here or reach out to Felicia Taylor if you can help out.

The Booster Club is offering logo chains to JFL kids this week leading up to homecoming at half price…$10. They will be available at home volleyball and JV football games this week. Tom Dunker will also have some available Wednesday night at JFL practice if anyone is interested.

ALSO…Homecoming is in a couple weeks. Be on the lookout for info on the parade, and volunteers needed as Knoxville JFL continues our tradition of running the concession stand for the varsity game at homecoming.

Knoxville JFL hosted tackle games at home yesterday. Our 8u and 9u teams both had big victories, while our 10u and 11u teams both fought well against very tough opponents.

Flag teams all played at Woodruff.

I want to give a big thank you to the Knoxville School District for letting the kids play on Dennis Larson Field. I also want to give a big thank you to all of the parents and coaches that provided plenty of shade canopies for the refs and both the home and visitor sidelines to help with the heat. We also had plenty of parents provide water, Gatorade, and ice throughout the day for all of our teams. We even had a cool misting fan on the sidelines by the end of the day. And a final thanks to the parents, coaches, kids, and Mr. Maaske for staying after to help clean up and put everything away after a long, hot day.

We are expecting hot weather during our games tomorrow. Our early games should be fine, and we will work with the referees to monitor temp and heat conditions throughout the day. I’ll set coolers with ice and plenty of water on the sidelines for each game, and refs will provide plenty of water breaks as needed. One thing that would help is if we could get a few large pop-up canopies, I’d like to set some up outside the end zones for a shaded place for the kids/coaches to spend halftimes. Please message me if you have one you could bring to set for the day. Also…I’ll provide bottled water, but if anyone would like to donate some gatorades, for the kids/coaches, I’d be happy to add them to the coolers.
