Game Day

Tuesday, March 31:

Come to your special session where we will be playing a selection of our favorite training games. You are welcome to invite a friend to join you!

Sessions will meet as scheduled below:

4:00 – 4:45pm: Ages 6-8
5:00 – 5:30pm: Ages 4-5
5:45 – 6:30pm: Ages 9 & up

These sessions will be followed by a movie night at 7:00pm. The movie will be Shanghai Noon starring Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson.

Martial Arts Skills Workshops
With Distinguished Guest Instructor Chuck Reynolds

Monday, March 30
5:00pm – Karate Tigers
5:45pm – Ages 6-12
6:30pm – Ages 13+

This workshop will allow you to work with Instructor Chuck Reynolds on some of the core martial arts skills he teaches. Mr. Reynolds is the senior instructor at the Wheeler Academy. We will have a special discussion time at the end of each workshop for you to ask questions and talk with Mr. Reynolds about his school.

This workshop is open to students of all ranks.

Teen & Adult Martial Arts Skills Workshop
With Distinguished Guest Instructor Josh Cate

Thursday, March 26

This workshop will allow you to work with Instructor Josh Cate on some of the core martial arts skills he teaches. Mr. Cate is the senior instructor at Cate’s BJJ & Kickboxing. We will have a special discussion time at the end of the workshop for you to ask questions and talk with Mr. Cate about his school.

This workshop is open to Teen & Adult (13+) students of all ranks, and other students by invitation. Space is limited, so please register early if you plan to participate. Please see Mr. Booker if you have any questions.

Just a reminder that our "Catch Up" week is this week -- Sunday through Sunday, February 22 through March 1.

We'll have special sessions available by appointment. If you have had to miss all or part of your Promotion Exam, we have special times set aside for you to complete this.

During this week, we will be conducting:

Make Up tests for your Promotion Exam.
Student & Family Conferences.
Introductory Lessons.

Please contact our school at your earliest convenience if you need to schedule one of these.

Regular lessons will not meet during this week.

Our Graduation Ceremonies for the Winter Term will be this Saturday, February 21.

As we have discussed in our lessons together, we will hold our Graduation ceremonies at First Lutheran School, 1207 North Broadway, in their Gym. This is just south of the WATE-TV Channel 6 studios on Broadway.

Graduation sessions will meet as follows:

10:00am -- Junior Fundamentals & Honors students (ages 6-8)
11:15am Karate Tigers students (ages 4 & 5).
12:00 Noon -- Pre-Teen, Teen & Adult Fundamentals & Honors Students (ages 9 & older).

At Graduation you'll perform a short demonstration of a selection of the skills you have learned to earn your new rank. We will then present your new belt and your certificate of rank. Please wear your current rank belt and your full uniform for your Graduation.

Just a reminder that Promotion Exams for the Winter Term are this week, February 15-20 (Sunday through Friday).

Promotion Exams are the tests where our students demonstrate the martial arts skills they have learned during this term, and will earn their advancement to their next belt rank.

The Promotion Exams will take place during normal lesson times throughout this week.

Fundamentals and Honors Students should attend both your "A" & "B" lessons to complete your Promotion Exam. To be eligible to take the exam you should have earned both your Bronze and Silver achievement stripes.

Tigers Students should attend one of your lessons to complete your Promotion Exam.

We will be open on Monday, 2/16 (Presidents Day). Lessons will meet on our regular schedule.

Graduation Ceremonies will be on Saturday, February 21, in the gym at First Lutheran School.

Please check with your instructor if you have any questions about the Promotion Exams or Graduation.

Just a reminder that upcoming is our Exam Preparation Week -- Monday-Friday, February 2-13.

For all our students, we'll be preparing for our upcoming Promotion Exams. We'll be reviewing and practicing all of the skills that you'll be demonstrating for your Exam next week -- so that you can do your very best with all of them.

Please be sure to come to both your "A" & "B" lessons this week for a thorough review of your skills.

If you missed the second part of your Silver Achievement Stripe test earlier this week, we will have Make Up sessions available tomorrow, Sunday, February 8.

If you missed your Honors lesson on Wednesday or Thursday, you are welcome to join us Sunday at 2:35pm to make this up.

If you missed your Fundamentals lesson on Wednesday or Thursday, you are welcome to join us Sunday at 1:40pm to make this up.
