Thought I’d post a little to give everyone a peer into little Austen and kind of where I started. This was me in 2013 at 16 years old, no lifting, just playing sports and doing their workouts (no weights) and being in shape. I mean I do push-ups and abs in my room for maybe 15 minutes before I went to bed, but that’s about it.

I will say genetics has a big part of how good your muscle layout is, and how easy/hard it is to put on muscle or cut down. I hate to say it but I was always one of the most superior athletes all around growing up and got nicknamed β€œSuperman” because of it. I don’t say that to brag but give perspective.

You gotta have some grace with yourself, and comparison gets you no where. I started with a better foundation than most people, and I’ve had big legs since I played sports. If you’re just starting out, or haven’t been in the gym long, just remember that everyone starts from a different spot. Everyone is on their own journey, you just gotta stick it out and be patient with your results, because they will come.

When you realize that waiting 30 mins after eating before swimming is actually a lie perpetuated by parents to keep from having to watch you for that little bit of time and you’ve just blindly believed it yourself entire lifeπŸ™„

A little physique update at the start of vacation‼️ The lean bulking process has been very effective this summer; holding onto decent conditioning while increasing strength and adding a little muscle here and there.

As a natural athlete, training is really a game of patience. Realistically, you’re not going to add 10 lbs of solid muscle on your frame each year. You probably won’t even add 5, you might add 2-3 lbs of quality muscle each year if diet and training are on point. Which is another reason why there’s no reason to bulk up to a high body fat percentage.

Without the extra β€œsupplements” that help you stay full and hold onto your muscle during a cut, it’s much more beneficial to keep yourself at a decent level of conditioning at all times. Makes it way easier to switch goals or priorities without feeling like you’re β€œlosing yourself”.

Honestly so happy with the back progress that I’ve made over the last couple years. It’s been one of my weakest areas for as long as I could remember and I’ve done my best at hammering it with some tips from and really improved things over the last little while.

Currently at my happiest self body-image wise, and the best I’ve looked at this weight. My composition is very ideal for my personal preferences at the moment, still strong and able to put up some weight but I don’t feel heavy ~ staying at an athletic/lean body fat % and it’s never been easier.

to my baby for making me eat more carbs and encouraging me not to deprive myself. I’ve been very guilty in the past for constant restrictive eating/dieting because of years of competition prep/year round prep but I’ll say this is the most balanced my diet has ever been and I enjoy it more than I ever have. And honestly, it’s never been this easy for me to make progress whether that’s to stay lean while putting on size or failing things back to take off a little extra body fat. Your help and support is appreciated more than you know and I wouldn’t be at this point if you hadn’t have come into the picture.πŸ’™

Gah I’m really at a loss for words trying to express in a caption just how important you are to me.

You are the definition of a top caliber person. I admire everything about you, your kind heart, your caring and empathetic nature, and your incredible work ethic. Seriously you’re one of if not the hardest working person I know, and it inspires the crap out of me. You deserve more recognition and applause for how hard you work day in and day out than you get, because a lot of that work isn’t seen by anyone.

Above all I love the way that you love me. I always thought I was too much, that I gave too much, that I loved too hard, that I wanted something from someone that didn’t exist, until you came along. You changed everything, you broke the mold, and you showed me that it wasn’t me but just that I hadn’t been giving my love to the right person.

Brianna, you are my best friend and the only person I want to do life with and I can’t thank you enough for all that you do for me and how much love you give me. I will continue to do my best to show you how much it means to me. Love you to the ends of space,
