Looks like it's going to be a warm one today, so try to tackle your outdoor tasks sooner rather than later! Now, let's take a trip down memory lane to the year 1948!





One of the largest expansions at Shields-Watkins Field took place in 1948 with the addition of the south stands.

Included in the construction were new dorms—known as South Stadium Hall— offices and a visitor’s locker room.

Tony Robinson dazzled in Tennessee’s 1985 season opener against UCLA, throwing for 387 yards and two touchdowns.

Though the game ended in a 26-26 tie, it was sign of things to come. Robinson led the Vols to a 38-20 thrashing of No. 1 Auburn a week later.

Tennessee racked up 571 yards of total offense in its 48-0 rout of Kentucky at Commonwealth Stadium in 1993.

Freshman wide receiver Joey Kent caught three passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

Lindsey Nelson, the co-founder of the Vol Network 35 years earlier, was on the call alongside former Alabama quarterback Scott Hunter.

The Vols won, 34-24.

Good Thursday morning, Big Orange family! The last couple of days we have had some great weather in East TN and today will be more of the same. We hope you have the best day possible and let's look back at the year 1990.





Dale Carter accounted for 251 all-purpose yards in Tennessee’s 42-28 win over Kentucky at Neyland Stadium in 1990.

Carter returned four kickoffs for 148 yards, 62 yards on four punt returns and a 41-yard interception for a touchdown in the third quarter.

John Ward narrates highlights of Tennessee’s 35-17 win over Auburn at Neyland Stadium in 1979.

It was the first signature win of the Johnny Majors’ era, and it helped set the stage for the Vols’ upset of No. 13 Notre Dame later that season.
