Happy Meet Us Monday!!! This week we have Ms. Emma✨
“I have a bachelor of science degree in psychology and I’m currently an Experimental Psychology PhD student at UTK. I was on a year round swim team most of my childhood and have taught people to swim for a total of 6 years at multiple pools. I’ve worked at SafeSplash since May of this year and what I love most about working here are the people we help through our swim programs. I’ve met some amazing kiddos and adults over the last several months and getting to help them learn swimming each week has brought me so much joy and laughter. Lastly, a fun fact about me is that I can play three string instruments (violin, guitar, and piano).“

🌊 SAFETY SUNDAY: Learning to Float Matters! 🛟
Learning to float is more than just a swim skill—it’s an important water safety skill that can help save lives. 💙
✨ Floating can help swimmers:
• Keep their head above water
• Conserve energy while waiting for help
• Reduce panic and create time to think
• Build confidence and comfort in the water
• Develop a foundation for lifelong water safety
Teaching children to float gives them another tool to use if they ever find themselves in an unexpected situation in the water. 🏊♀️💦
Float first. Stay calm. Stay safe. 💙

A fashionably late Meet Us Monday for our East Area Manager, Ms. Emily!✨🤍
“I was so lucky to grow up swimming and fall in love with the water at a young age. I swam competitively at Pilot Aquatic Club (now Tennessee Aquatics) here in Knoxville and then continued to compete at Kenyon College in Ohio. While in college, I was a member of the 2007 national championship team and an NCAA All-American. After finishing my undergraduate degree in History, I received my master’s degree in Sport Management from the University of Tennessee while also serving as the Director of Operations for the women’s soccer team for almost five years. I have been with SafeSplash since June 2019 and I oversee our Knoxville and Simpsonville, SC locations! My husband Jon and I have a 4 year old daughter Greer who loves her SafeSplash lessons!”

🌊 Safety Sunday: Active Supervision! 👀
When it comes to water safety, simply being nearby isn’t enough. Active supervision means staying within arm’s reach, giving your full attention to the person in the water, and constantly scanning for signs of distress.
A few extra seconds of attention can make all the difference. Make active supervision a non-negotiable part of every swim! 💙

This week’s Meet Us Monday we have our owner, Davis Tarwater! ✨💙🐠
“Hi! I am Davis Tarwater the owner of SafeSplash + Swim Labs in Knoxville. I have been drawn to the water my whole life, so starting this business was an easy decision! I grew up in Knoxville, swam in college for the University of Michigan and ultimately ended my career in 2012 at the Olympic Games in London. Sharing my love for the water and helping to instill confidence in young people has been so rewarding over the last few years since we opened. Our company has grown to include two locations on the Nashville area and one location just outside of Greenville, SC. It has been a pure joy to witness the personal and professional development of our staff and the bonds they are able to forge with the children that they have the privilege of working with.
My wife Brittany and I have two kids Davis (6) and Clara (4), who are weekly SafeSplash regulars and have improved so much over the years working with our team! As a water family, we love the pool, the beach, the lake and even the sprinkler! While owning the business has had some challenges, being a customer has gone swimmingly. I can’t wait to see you at SafeSplash!”

🎉✨HAPPY AUGUST & HAPPY MEET US MONDAY✨🎉
This week we have our General Manager, Mr. David❗️
“Hi, I’m David! I’ve been part of the SafeSplash team since March 2024, and I currently serve as General Manager. I love teaching swim lessons to students of all ages and helping kiddos become safer and more confident in the water. On top of that, I also love teaching CPR classes — it’s just another way I get to help keep our community safe.
For me, the best part of this job is working alongside a team of lifesavers and getting to watch not just our swimmers grow, but our staff too.
When I’m not at the pool, you’ll probably find me out hiking with my German Shorthaired Pointer, Ranger, or rock climbing outdoors.“

🛟This Sunday, let’s talk about the S.A.F.E.R. Swimmer Promise Test!!!
At SafeSplash, every lesson is about more than learning to swim—it’s about building life-saving skills that last a lifetime.
Our S.A.F.E.R. Swimmer Promise helps swimmers develop the essential water safety skills they need to stay safer in and around the water. From confidently jumping in to safely exiting the pool, each step builds confidence, independence, and preparedness.
Eligible swimmers that meet the program requirements can earn our S.A.F.E.R. Swimmer Promise—and if they don’t master these skills within 12 months, we’ll provide up to 2 months of FREE lessons to help them get there! 💛
Every child deserves the confidence and skills to be safer in the water.
