MYA RACE #1 RESULTS

After two heat cancellations, we finally got the first Memphis Youth Athletics race of the season in tonight at Shelby Farms!

- DRAGONS GIRLS — 3rd out of 13 scoring teams!

Eleanor Hight led the way with a huge 3rd-place finish overall, running 12:40 in a field of 201 runners! Anneliese Ventrini finished 29th, followed closely by Izel Che in 31st, Nicole Goncharova in 40th and Madilyn Yearby in 51st to round out our top five.

- DRAGONS BOYS — 16th out of 24 scoring teams

The boys competed in a huge field of 349 runners. Cayden Thomas led the Dragons in 46th place, with Andrew Adamson and Kasen Andrews right behind him in 49th and 50th.

It was good to finally get this race in! Another opportunity to compete, another race under our belts, and more work ahead as we keep pushing through the season.

Proud of these Dragons!

STATE BOUND!

It was a HOT one at W.C. Johnson Park today as hosted the TSSAA Class AAA Section 4 Championships!

With the temperatures climbing, our Dragons battled the heat, a tough field and a challenging two-mile course with one goal — earn a trip to State.

And BOTH varsity teams got it done!

Our girls finished 4th overall, led by 7th grader Eleanor Hight, who had a huge race and finished 3rd overall in 12:40.21!

• Anneliese Ventrini – 15th

Then it was the boys' turn. They knew what was on the line and raced as a pack when it mattered. Cayden Thomas, Andrew Adamson, Kasen Andrews and Jackson Pounders finished 22nd through 25th, helping secure that 4th and final qualifying spot!

State is set for October 3 in Clarksville, but we aren't done racing yet!

Next up: Tuesday night at Shelby Farms for what we HOPE will finally be the first MYA race of the season — if the heat doesn't cancel another one!
