Staying on budget is hard! A couple of things I always keep in mind when I am working on our personal budget:
1. It's ok if it's not perfect every single month!
2. Focus on the 3 or 4 categories that can have the largest variance.
3. Consistency, consistency, consistency!
We use to track our expenses - our credit card is linked so we check the app to make sure transactions are categorized correctly. Once a week I will take a quick look at the "trends" tab to see where we are. If things look good I close it down and move on with my day. If I notice we are over budget I will dig a bit deeper to see why and make necessary changes.
Let’s talk together about how we can easily track your expenses - whether it’s like how my family does it or your own individual way, we can make a plan: https://bit.ly/apfinancialhome

Do you understand the difference between account types and the investment itself?
I hear questions from clients that highlight the misunderstanding between an account type (IRA, 401k, HSA, 529) and the investment itself. This little misunderstanding can have a big impact on your finances long term.
Let’s avoid a misunderstanding - we can talk today: https://bit.ly/apfinancialhome

It’s Tax Day!
Remember - even if you have an extension, but owe money, you must make income tax payments by TODAY to avoid penalties and interest.
04/13/2022
Taxes are due this month!
April 18th is this year’s deadline, but you can file for an extension through October 15.

If you find yourself thinking “I wish I’d prepared more” each time one of these deadlines is coming to a close then have a huge sigh of relief when you hear it’s been extended - let’s use this time to prepare.
Student loan payments will resume at some point…I have no idea when, but they will. Start paying yourself your loan payment every month - put that toward savings, investing, or paying down debt.
This will do 2 things:
1) build savings and/or reduce debts
2) you get used to not relying on that money in your everyday expenses.
when loan payments pick back up you simply divert that money back to your student loans.

I highly recommend using a separate card for work expenses!
I have seen many clients use the same card for personal and business expenses and it gets messy and confusing. By using a separate card for work expenses you know exactly what was work and what was personal.
If you're using a credit card, be sure to submit your expenses in a timely manner so you don't get caught waiting to get reimbursed when you need to pay the card off.
Let’s talk today about how we can manage your work expenses and personal expenses with different accounts: https://bit.ly/apfinancialhome.
