Why fish a 10wt when you’ve got a 12wt.

Another personal rod I built recently. I’ve had this ROSS REELS CLA7 in the drawer for some time now. I finally got around to building a matching rod for it. Someday there’s going to be a tarpon on the end of this but for now I’ll be chasing lings and things.

What a way to break-in a new rod!

I built this Batson Enterprises Batson RX6 SWJ58XXH jigging rod last week and fished it last weekend for the first time.
It was so much fun to fish, the moderate action was awesome, and the graphite was super sensitive. The pistol extended thumb grip came in clutch for a long day of fishing

I caught this 54 pound ling cod on a Pitbull Tackle 16oz Bora Jig in 240’ of water and it had all the lifting power I needed. I’m very happy with the rod and it quickly has become one of my favorite for jigging.

I finished this Batson Enterprises Immortal 7’6” twitching rod (IMMP76M) last fall. I was in too big of a hurry to get it fishing and never took pictures of it until recently. It fishes fantastic and I love how sensitive the rod is, the midnight blue blank is a clean look as well.

I built the grip a bit shorter so it didn’t get hung up on my waders or large fishing jackets as much in the cold weather, but that’s why we build them custom.

I even had a friend fuzzy friend come check it out on the river.

The most recent set to come off the bench. Pretty damn proud of these seven. All built one at a time, by hand, with intent. The way it should be.

The details:
All the rods are Batson blanks with Alps components. The powder coated cherry red guides are from and they were awesome to work with. The guides turned out top notch.

Two RCKJB 5’8” jigging rods, conveniently wrapped
Two RCKJB 6’6” jigging rods, acid wrapped
Two BP 10’6” trolling rods with carbon grips
One RSU deep drop rod for an electric reel

We’re almost there folks. We may still be getting snowed on in Kodiak but the reds are converging on Alaska and we can’t wait.

Heres a rod I built last year specifically for targeting reds. It can be used with a fly reel or a spinning reel and makes long days on the river much more enjoyable.

Built on a 9’ 8wt fly rod I’m quite happy with the results. Yellow mono makes for an easy day on the eyes as well.

upgraded this spring with a 9’ 8 weight built with Alps components and Fuji thread. Im very happy with how the color combination turned out. I know she’s going to hammer some fish this year with it. She always does. The new labels are turning out sharp as well.
