Big bear country! Ocean,rivers,lakes and mountaintops, whatever it takes to get the tags filled for your paying customers! Livin the life with no sign of stop in me!

A great bear making his way down off the mountain! One of the most exciting hunts to guide for me. The terrain, weather, and size of these Kodiak bears are incredible. Glad to be a part of Kodiak’s wildlife management system and put hunters on them for an adventure of a lifetime!

When I got the news from my boss that I would be able to go after my own Alaska-Yukon moose in the middle of guiding season(canceled client), I wasted no time to jump at the opportunity. After seeing this bull for numerous years in the drainage I guided in he showed himself on day nine of the hunt. After trying to call him in with no success, other than him just turning his head and we could see his monstrous paddles moving in the brush down below us about a mile away I decided to make a very familiar stalk into the pond like I had done many times before for clients and wound up almost stepping right on top of him at 50 to 60 yards! # swampdonkey

Was quite the relief to have my hunter Josh volunteer to trade off the Barney’s bag stuffed with a B&C bear. Soaking wet and about 3 miles back to the skiff we felt the pain in every step! Here’s to a great bear this spring and an even greater group of guys to hunt with!

Absolute triller till the fat lady sang on this big ram! My hunter made two shots initially and to my disbelief the ram started to runoff and over the other side of the peak. We battled weather up and down and all around searching for the wounded animal. As the fog broke up high I spotted him and we were able to finish the job. Not everything is lollipops and candy canes and it can really test your mental and physical state at the most crucial times. Super pleased overall with the hunt and was a pleasure to hunt with this young man!

Absolute hammertime for Larson Bay Lodge on Kodiak Island! Wild Argo rides,floatplane flights and boat voyages all in combination to bring down the biggest of bruins! Thrilled hunters tested their metal against the harshest terrain and weather Mother Nature could dish out! And only the best of the bear guides!

Adios Larsen Bay! Headed back to Kodiak city and back to good ol sunny Colorado! Been a wild ride with happy hunters and big ol bears!
