Started the day with a miss… barely… at 33 yards. Straight out of the gate. Not how you want to open things up 😖
Did some bow tuning and shooting homework afterward and I feel like I’m back in the game.
Check the beach fly though… nearly got him 😉

This monarch was hatched circa World War I. As much as we love catching these magnificent fish, we know they’re slow-growing and long-lived—a true privilege every time one comes over the rail.

🏆 This week’s Fisherman of the Week goes to Mike Samson!

Mike is a true sportsman — cool, calm, and collected no matter what the weather threw at us. Not only did he land an impressive 100-pound halibut, but he was gracious enough to release several others back into the ocean to fight another day.
His positive attitude and strict commitment to the rules made him a standout on the boat and a pleasure to fish with. That’s what Kodiak Big Timber Lodge fishing is all about — respecting the resource, enjoying the journey, and making great memories.
