The Spring Bear Season has come to a close — and what a grind it was. Rain, wind, snow, and every kind of nasty weather in between.

But, it was worth it. The memories made and the lessons learned outweigh every cold, wet, difficult moment. I learned a lot about the process this spring… and probably even more about myself and the people around me.

I have an immense respect for these bears and their nearly supernatural abilities to exist in this environment. At the end of the day, the hunt isn’t really about the kill. It’s about the journey. Thank you to all of my hunters, guides, pilots and friends you are amazing.

The real trophy in hunting isn’t the size of the animal—it’s the memories made along the way. It’s the early mornings, the late sunsets, and the shared pursuit of an animal that brings people together in a way that’s both unique and deeply meaningful.
I’m proud to have taken this beautiful Kodiak brown bear, but what truly matters is the time spent with people I care about, doing something difficult and special in God’s creation.

You feel impossibly small against the towering peaks and the vast, untamed ocean below, yet in that humility lies exactly what your soul needed: clarity, strength, and a profound sense of connection to creation.

Personally it helps me to listen for his still small voice.

No two days look alike at Big Timber. Each day is uniquely different and beautiful in its own way. Sometimes you can only stand in awe of the raw power, other days it’s a billion sparkles on the water. We feel incredibly fortunate to bear witness to each one.
