๐๐๐ ๐๐ก๐ก๐ข๐จ๐ก๐๐๐ ๐๐ก๐ง!!! I'm back to coaching and I've added Yin Yoga to my classes! Hays County Physical Therapy and Wellness focuses on women's health (my favorite) and they have opened a new office that has a yoga studio and a gym. They are on the north end of San Marcos so they are only about 11 minutes away from downtown Kyle and 17 minutes from Buda. These two classes compliment each other beautifully. Your body will thank you! The fitness classes are limited to 5 people so you are guaranteed my utmost personal attention. โค
For those not familiar with Yin Yoga, floor postures are held passively for several minutes in order to access a safe and positive โstressโ on the deeper layers of connective tissue in the body. Physically, Yin Yoga restores and maintains the natural mobility of the joints, as well as decreases inflammation and improves hydration of the connective tissue. Energetically, Yin Yoga stimulates the bodyโs channel system of subtle energy, enhancing energetic flow and supporting emotional equilibrium. Yin Yoga also prepares both the body and mind for meditation.
As we age (I know, I know), joint mobility is SO important. Many of you have heard me say that the end goal of exercise is to be able to carry your groceries at the age of 85 and to prevent breaking a hip. The combination of strength training and Yin Yoga can help get you to a rockin' 85.
You can sign up for classes online. The entire month of March is donation based so no excuse not to come and try a class!

Me: Who has tight hips?
Me: Raises hand slowly...
If you sit, chances are pretty good that your hips could use some TLC. Try 5-10 minutes of stretching each day and your hip flexors will thank you!
Tip: only stretch until you feel slight tension. You do not want to push through the pain. The more consistent you are with stretching, the deeper you will be able to get in the stretches!

The week after Christmas is the week when the majority of the population starts to make their resolutions for the new year. 2020 sure taught us a thing or two about sticking to our plans! If you are ready to take your health and wellness in a new direction, I am here to help. I am all about normalizing normal bodies. We are all different shapes and sizes and guess what? That is NORMAL.
If you are not familiar with the way I operate, here are a few things that might sound familiar to you but you will never hear me say.
"Time to work off those holiday eats and treats!" FYI - exercise is not a punishment for eating and eating should not be punished.
"You should wait until you lose weight before you buy that new dress, jacket, leggings, etc." You have a body that is worthy of wearing something that makes you happy RIGHT NOW.
"Ready to lose that COVID 20?" The most insensitive question ever. 2020 was about survival in unchartered waters.
"I am the expert and I know what is best for you." YOU are the expert on YOU. You know what you are capable of and what drives you. I am your guide to help you reach your aspirations.
We are all different in so many ways. There is not a one size fits all workout plan just like there isn't a quick fix or a magic pill. One thing that I do know for sure is that we are all worthy. Worthy of love, worthy of being listened to and worthy of all the wonderful things that life has to offer.

Hi gang! How is everyone holding up with this crazy year? 2020 is almost over so I think we should finish off strong. Fall is upon us with some crazy allergies here in Central Texas. Winter is coming and with that comes the flu and other cold viruses as well as an uptick in COVID. So how do we make sure we are staying as healthy as possible? It's really not as difficult as one may think!
- Make sure you are getting outside for at least 10 minutes every day to get some Vitamin D. Lack of VitD can cause fatigue and depression. Now it even more important than ever to keep on top of this.
2. Drink plenty of water! If drinking a gallon of water a day seems like an impossible feat, start off with half a gallon and work your way up over the course of 30 days.
3. Eat your fruits and veggies. This will provide your body with the antioxidants it will need to fight off any sick bugs.
4. Exercise! Exercise improves mental health by reducing anxiety, depression, and negative mood and by improving self-esteem and cognitive function. This is really critical right now with anxiety and depression at an all time high. This doesn't have to be a full body, hard core workout every single day. 30 minutes a day is what is recommended. This can be anything from a yoga video, a walk around the neighborhood, a short bike ride or a HITT workout. You can also break up the time throughout the day.
5. Find 10 minutes a day to just sit and be. Time to quiet your thoughts and focus on your breathing. There are some really great guided mediation apps and most fitness watches have this option as well.
Hopefully you will be able to incorporate these into your daily life to get back on or stay the course for health and happiness!

Wait! What happened to Flying Goat Fitness? We are evolving once again!
Last summer, I decided that I wanted to help even more people live a healthy lifestyle so I enrolled in a Health Coaching program. In January, I became a certified Health Coach. My plan was to expand my services so that I could help more women live the life that they deserve. I renamed my business and was ready to launch right after spring break. Then CV19 happened. When CV19 started picking up steam, I couldn't go ahead with my plans. It just didn't feel right to ask someone to put the focus on themselves when we are all heading into the unknown. Finding toilet paper was the focus.
Now that things have calmed down with regards to supply of food and toilet paper, I feel now is the right time. During the time that we have been in quarantine, our lives have changed. We've all made changes to our lives that some of us never even considered before. This has put a tremendous amount of stress on our mental health and our physical health. When our overall health is compromised, so is our immune system. Staying home doesn't mean being stuck. Being stuck in an unhealthy food routine. Being stuck in a workout rut. Being stuck in an unhealthy frame of mind. If you are feeling stuck, I can help.
Flying Goat Fitness is now Lift Fitness and Health Coaching. Check out my site and if I can be of any help at all, please don't hesitate to message me. I'm excited for the future!
