My grandmother always said “when you get down you must get up.” And through the years some of my best work has been done during moments of grief. I had to put down the most kind soul I’ll ever meet this week and the shop was far from the same for this project. Crockett has been in the shop with me for every knife I’ve ever made at my home shop. In his late years he’d lay on his bed or in front of the wood stove and snore the days away. In his early days he was directly in my way 100% of the time because he simply couldn’t be close enough to me. It annoyed me then, but what i wouldn’t do to nearly lose my life falling over him with knives in my hand today. Thanks .l._hansenandsons for the sick handle material. Starry night micarta certainly gave me the challenge i needed today but boy is it beautiful when done right. Play hard, Crockett. I’ll think of you every time i walk into that shop, or even outside for that matter. Hope you guys enjoy my grief work. 💔

My latest and greatest. This one was quite the passion project for my cousin’s 60th birthday so i was really able to stretch out and try a couple new things. I couldn’t be happier! What an incredibly fun build this integral bolster raindrop damascus 9.5” chef knife wearing stabilized walnut was. Enjoy, Troy Burgen!!!
