I hope that you and your families are sheltering safe and secure during these uncertain and trying times. I’m sure you, like me and Samuel, miss our times sweating pools on the mat and being yelled at, “Go get some!!” while we beat the bags.
But, like so many of you, we are seeking creative ways of staying in shape with burpees in living room, biking and sparring all over the house!
There are a couple of things that I wanted to challenge each and all of you with that you may or may not have already risen to. The first is your monthly fees for membership at GCKM. While I certainly understand that some of you have been directly, dramatically and practically impacted by the widespread quarantine and shutdowns, some of us are blessed to have employers or financial situations in which we are continuing to garner wages. And, since our membership fees represent a “direct, dramatic and practical impact” on GCKM, Mr. Noi and his family, I want to challenge, especially those who are still getting paid, to step up and ask Mr. Noi to continue billing during this shutdown. This would help sustain his family, the studio we love and is the right thing to do, which whether you call it karma or reaping and sowing, is a win-win proposition. To you who have already met the challenge…”Qida” (sp?)
The second challenge, is some what of a leap, literally, of faith. I simply want to challenge you in Who or what you are trusting in, turning to and having faith in, especially in times of crisis like this. “For me and my house,” we have found great comfort in knowing that there is a Living God Who loves and cares for us (and we believe you too) through every season. Not as some religious “opiate” that numbs us from the realities and difficulties of life, or to fabricate meaning where there is none. But quite the opposite. Our faith is in a God Who “works all things together for good” (even when everything isn’t good), and initiates from Himself and inspires in people the deepest and purest manifestations of Life: innovation, caring, generosity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, humility, and Love. God turns dark times into a mere backdrop for the bright light of these attributes and more to shine! So, I just wanted to challenge you that, as you like most of us are evaluating your priorities, to set your relationship with God as a priority and to put your trust in Him and the saving work that He accomplished in Jesus Christ as payment for our sins and promise of more than we deserve through grace. Again, to you who have already met "the challenge"…”Qida” (sp?)

What a great day of awesomeness celebrating our five years by going to work! Test promotion at 0800, Mechanics workshop at 0900, Shred Systm at 1000, and juniors testing at 12:30-4:30pm…one hell of an action packed day! Special thank you to everyone in attendance, came to train in our anniversary gift seminars and an even big thanks to our team who started to help in juniors testing! Very grateful to every person who walked through these doors today.

Great day of resilience and grit demonstrated by these strong willed individuals. Very grateful for everyone trusting in our vision and the process. And as discussed today, to quote Theodore Roosevelt,
“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. Going to miss Mr. Andre and Mr. Donovan and the Ruiz family. Have a safe trip and good luck on the new endeavors and thank you for being a part of our GC Krav Maga family! Looking forward to seeing you guys back in town when you pay your family a visit! And hopefully, Mr. Andre teaches Mr. Noi a thing or two from his next school.

Ms. Melissa putting out straight 📠 about a person’s perspective on what they think they’ll do versus what they are actually capable of doing. If you train in different stimuli and in different environments you get a glimpse of what you likely will do. If you’ve never trained in any self defense, you will absolutely be unable to predict your outcomes. Be the hero in your own story.
