Our Swim: Cove to Pier and Back! In the summer of 2011 we challenged ourselves to do a big swim. Thus, the Beyond the Buoys (BTB) swim was launched.
While many of us swam distances from .5 mile or more, we'd never gone from La Jolla Cove to the pier and back - a distance of 3 miles. It was so much fun, we're doing it again in 2012. The BTB pier swim will be in August 2012 with the swim at 8:30 and followed by a potluck. Our swim will be supported by at least 2 kayaks, any paddling volunteers please let us know. Easy swim at the Cove today - in the water at 1:00 pm. Just to the quarter mile and back, although some may go longer. Then concert in the park at 2:00 pm. Join us!

Everyone is welcome to join several BtB members for swims Friday morning at 6:30 am at La Jolla Cove for unofficial swims as well!
Welcome back everyone! We are starting to make plans for Beyond the Buoys again this summer. We'll post more information soon!
Great job at the Tiki Swim everyone! It was really nice to see everyone has kept up their swim fitness and did another long swim! See you all for the next one!

Congrats to the BTB swimmers who swam from the Cove to the Pier and back on Saturday! What a fun swim and party after. Thanks again to all who made it happen - giving pre-swim guidance, mid-swim encouragement, pictures and safety support and post- swim food and party - you all rock!!!
