You can call it passion, but I think the right word is "desire". I wanted to be the best- the best I possible could be. My goal was division 1 baseball. I think this is where a lot of people go wrong when they are in something. They do it because their passionate about it but they might not have a goal in mind with the desire to attain the goal. Desire and a goal are two very important things.....no matter what you do.

And these goals are not surface level. They are deep rooted. They embody you.

What a day to be outside! Got a great defensive practice in at Legion Park. The lesson was the little things. Catching glove side and throwing with a power step through the transition. These small things separate bad from good and good to great. It matters.

A lesson on a HITTERS Mindset. Never give the pitcher credit for getting you out. If/When you get out it’s 1 of 3 reasons. Here is what your mindset should be.

1. Find your BALANCE.
2. HUNT your pitch.
3. Pull the trigger with TIMING.

That was the lesson at hitting practice last night.

I had a great conversation with a college coach last week and he said something like "there are kids that just have it, but they are 1 in a million". He went on to say parents often do not connect the dots correctly when it comes to sports. The "GOAL" should not be a college scholarship or to make a MLB Roster. The Goal needs to be to develop the skill sets and work ethic needed to build confidence and excitment for the game. Once they have confidence and excitment and taste success, the other stuff lines up by itself. An example is when a kid has a perfect swing in the cage but can't hit a ball in a game and often has low energy and zero confidence in other aspects of the game. So the GOAL is Confidence and Excitement for the game. You have to put in the hardwork anyways. That is price of admission.
