Some baits are just hard for me to get away from. This 3.4" craw profile is one of them.

I’ve caught a pile of bass on it, especially Texas-rigged through the rice and reeds in midwest lakes. Nothing complicated — bullet weight, EWG hook, craw. Rig it weedless and put it where the fish are.

Like I needed more to do…

We will be testing a new mold system and if all goes as planned we will be trying a new feature on the website within the next couple months.

The mold consists of a grub body, which is probably one of the most popular profiles across most crappie baits, which can be manipulated to work with several different tail presentations. Total bait size of 2”. The three pictured are what will initially be available (if this all works out there will be a split tail and curly tail option available, and maybe more, in the future). We may also add a few of our other popular baits to this feature as time goes by.

The new feature on the website will allow you to choose your own body color (a new color line will also be available for this feature) and then you would select your tail presentation and color.

Long read but I wanted to get your opinions on how far you would want to go in the selection process yourself.

Would you want to choose plastic color, flake (glitter) colors, maybe glow or highlights, and make it a complete build your own bait option, or would a simpler option of choosing from a pre mixed body color line up be better?

The reason I ask is that with the complete build your own bait option I would need to put a minimum on the amount of baits purchased, somewhere around the 40-60 bait mark. Otherwise I would need to put a price on it to help cover the wasted plastic of the craziness your guys come up with. I fish most left over at this time but my bag is usually stuffed already keeping up with this would be on a new level… maybe I’ll just have to fish more. 🤣

If we go with a pre determined color line you could purchase a single bag of let’s say 15 baits at a reasonable price.

While many of our baits offer a laminate or tail color option this feature will allow you to customize the profile itself as well, the only question is how much customization do you want to have access to?

It’s been a crazy year. With my new website being built over last winter I focused on getting as much as possible added in as many colors as possible and totally missed the hardwater season.

Many profiles are still lacking in colors, a lot of those profiles were initially part of my ice fishing line up. While many of them got added in limited colors, not all of them have even seen daylight for over two years.

Well, we are going to put in the time and effort to get them added with several color options and multiple glow options as well as our standard scents prior to any substantial ice.

Our Spikes, Wedges, Eggs, Maggots, and Waxies will be making a comeback while we will expand upon our color line for the profiles that are currently on the website with a profile of 1” or less.

Sometimes I run short of plastic while injecting, when I do it on the 1.25” Galaxy Grub Urchin I get these little nuggets of varying size.

I gonna start keeping them, hardwater is just around the corner!

When I said we have been in a drought for the last 5 years, I wasn’t kidding. That drought started the day the dam to our pond was finished.

This is now officially the first year hence that we have reached our average rainfall amount. As you can see, granted this is for Des Moines but is relative to our location, we have received more rainfall this September than the last five combined.

The pond level is up approximately 3.5’ this year, most of which came within the last 30 days. We still have a very expansive 12’ to go as it gets wider from here on out. Total will be 1 acre of surface area and approximately 34’ total depth.

With the positive water level increase I am processing in my mind what species of fish a want to add this fall. I’m thinking Yellow Perch, let them get established and then add more LMB and maybe a few Channel Catfish.

I currently have Bluegill, Crappie, and LMB and the populations are doing well.

What would you add if it was your pond?

I don’t know about you guys & gals, and maybe it hasn’t quite cooled off in your neck of the woods… but I’ve been waiting for cooler water temps to really see what our 3.6” U.F.O. Urchin has in store for me.

It’s been working just fine in the warmer weather, actually they won’t leave it alone, but this bait is going to shine in cooler temps. Our Shrovetide color is the number one seller, but I could see the Watermelon Red, Grasshopper, Blue Craw, and Mimic surging this fall.

These aren’t the limp biscuits I’ve seen sold by others, they stay defined and powerful in the water. The core is also smaller for a 3.6” Urchin at 17mm. They are tough and have a pre disposed hole through the core for easy rigging.

We sell them in pairs, not singles. The durability of one will last, but we wanted you to have an extra in case you get snagged while pitching it into the brush.
