⚾ MEET COACH CHRIS! ⚾

Head Coach | Fields Manager

Some people are simply the kind of people who see something that needs to be done and say, “I can help with that.”

Coach Chris is one of those people. ❤️⚾

After spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach, Chris is taking an exciting step this Fall as he begins his first season as a head coach!

Chris grew up playing baseball and continued playing adult softball, but these days, his favorite part of the game is getting to pass it along to the next generation. He loves watching kids have fun while learning the fundamentals, becoming better teammates, and understanding the importance of good sportsmanship.

And if you know Chris, you know he’ll be doing all of that with a smile.

He’s the guy with the positive attitude, the one willing to lend a hand, and the person you can count on to pitch in wherever he’s needed.

That willingness to help extends well beyond his own team. Chris also serves Lady Lake Babe Ruth as our Fields Manager, helping take care of the fields that hundreds of our players, coaches, and families enjoy throughout the season.

It’s one of those jobs that often happens behind the scenes—but every freshly prepared field, repaired area, and game-ready diamond matters. Before our kids can play ball, somebody has to make sure there’s a field ready for them to play on.

Chris is also a Lady Lake Babe Ruth parent. His daughter plays softball and his son plays baseball in our league, giving him plenty of reasons to want to see this program continue to grow and succeed—not only for his own kids, but for every family who calls these fields home.

Now he’s ready for his newest challenge: running a team of his own.

His approach is pretty simple:

Teach the fundamentals.
Teach sportsmanship.
Keep it positive.
Pitch in when someone needs you.
And make sure these kids have FUN. ❤️⚾

We’re excited to see Chris step into his first head-coaching season, and we’re especially grateful to have someone who’s willing to put in the work both in the dugout and on the dirt.

🥎 MEET COACH LINDSEY WEBER 🥎
8U Softball Coach | Social Media Liaison

For Coach Lindsey Weber, 8U softball is about teaching the game—but it’s also about something much bigger:

💕 Building strong girls.

Lindsey grew up playing softball and has carried her love for the game with her ever since. Now, as she enters her fourth season coaching 8U, she gets to help another generation of girls discover not only what they can do on the field, but what they’re capable of becoming.

At this age, softball gives girls an incredible opportunity to begin building confidence, resilience, independence, and a strong sense of self.

They learn that being strong doesn’t mean doing everything alone.

Strong girls learn to work together. 💪🥎

They learn to communicate. To trust the girl beside them. To celebrate someone else’s success just as loudly as their own. To accept coaching. To contribute when their team needs them. And when they strike out, miss a ball, or have a tough inning, they learn to pick themselves—and each other—back up.

Those lessons matter.

Because one day these little girls will become young women, and Lindsey wants them to leave our softball fields knowing that another girl’s strength doesn’t diminish their own. A great team becomes stronger when its girls encourage, support, and believe in one another. 💕

Her goal each season is certainly to develop better softball players—but it’s also to help develop strong-minded, confident girls who aren’t afraid to work hard, make mistakes, use their voices, contribute to a team, and try again.

And somewhere between practices, dugout cheers, big hits, missed catches, dirty cleats and postgame smiles, friendships are being built and memories are being made. 🥎✨

Off the field, Lindsey serves as our Social Media Liaison, helping Lady Lake Babe Ruth tell those stories and celebrate the players, coaches, families, and community behind our league.

For Lindsey, the mission is pretty simple:

Work hard.
Lift each other up.
Be a great teammate.
Believe in yourself.

⚾ MEET COACH TYLER CUPPELMAN ⚾
T-Ball Coach | Director of Corporate & Community Partnerships

For Coach Tyler Cuppelman, stepping onto the T-Ball field this year feels a lot like coming full circle.

Growing up, Tyler’s dad coached his teams, and some of his favorite childhood memories were made with his dad at the ballpark. Now, with boys of his own, Tyler wanted to give them that same experience—but just as importantly, he wanted to help create those memories for every child who steps onto a Lady Lake field.

At this age, success isn’t really measured by the scoreboard. It’s in the little moments: learning to hustle, encouraging a teammate, shaking off a mistake and getting back in the box, or seeing that smile when a player finally connects with the ball.

“The lessons go way beyond baseball. They’re about becoming good, respectable people along the way.”

That philosophy is also at the heart of Tyler’s role as Director of Corporate & Community Partnerships for Lady Lake Babe Ruth.

Tyler has a big vision for what partnerships can mean for our league. He plans to build relationships with local businesses as well as regional and national corporations that share our belief that every child deserves opportunities to play, learn, grow, and belong.

But he’s not stopping at sponsorships.

Tyler plans to actively research grant opportunities, develop corporate partnerships, and pursue funding that can help us improve our facilities, expand programming, provide equipment and resources, increase access for families, and create opportunities for our players that might otherwise be out of reach.

The goal is to grow Lady Lake Babe Ruth into a program that truly stands out among youth activities in our community—not simply because of what happens on the field, but because of what happens to our kids along the way.

We believe team sports are one of a child’s earliest opportunities to understand what it means to be part of something bigger than themselves.

They learn that other people are counting on them.
They learn to show up.
They learn to contribute.
They learn to celebrate someone else’s success.
They learn to respect differences, work through disappointment, and appreciate the people beside them.

Those are baseball lessons today—but they’re the beginnings of responsible, engaged community members who value their neighbors tomorrow. ❤️

That’s why investing in youth sports isn’t simply sponsoring a baseball or softball team. It’s an investment in the future of our community.

We’re excited to have Tyler working to connect the businesses, corporations, organizations, and people who want to make that investment with the kids who will benefit from it.

Because years from now, our players probably won’t remember the score of a T-Ball game.

But they’ll remember who showed up for them. ⚾❤️💙

⚾ MEET COACH MATT SMITH ⚾
10U Baseball Coach | Community Outreach & Local Business Partnerships

For Coach Matt Smith, Lady Lake baseball isn’t just where he coaches—it’s where his own baseball story began.

Matt played in the Lady Lake league more than 20 years ago before going on to play varsity baseball at Leesburg High School. Years later, he returned to the game from the other side of the dugout, coaching two seasons with Leesburg High and now bringing six seasons of youth baseball coaching experience to the field.

This season, Matt will coach our 10U Baseball players, but his commitment to Lady Lake Babe Ruth extends well beyond his team.

Matt is also taking on Community Outreach & Local Business Partnerships, with a goal of bringing the community back into community baseball. He believes a strong local league and a strong local business community can support one another—and that those relationships can help us create more opportunities and better experiences for our kids.

Matt wants to help build and strengthen relationships with the businesses and families who call our community home, while helping Lady Lake Babe Ruth grow bigger and better than ever.

Most importantly, he’s back where he played as a kid, now helping another generation make the kind of memories they’ll still be talking about 20 years from now.

That’s what youth baseball is all about.
