Here are 4 tips for healthy snacking:
1. Keep healthy options prepared: Often when the healthy option is easy and available you're more likely to eat it over the less healthy alternative.
2. Read nutrition labels: When purchasing pre-packed snacks such as snack bars, make sure to look at the amount of protein and sugar in each bar. Look for options with at least 5 grams of protein and an equal or lesser amount of sugar.
3. Involve the whole family in snack planning: As for input from all family members about what snacks they would like to have readily available. This can be a great opportunity for new snack ideas.
4. Keep portion size appropriate: Ideally a snack should be around 150-200 calories.
