Great write up about one of our softball seniors! Love seeing our girls shine!

Superstar Power at Ark: Welcome, Hayley!

There is something pretty special happening at Ark every school day — and now on Saturdays, too.

Welcome, Hayley!

Hayley is a senior at Prairie Heights High School who has chosen to share part of her school day with the animals at Ark Animal Rescue & Adoption. Bright, energetic, dependable and ready to jump in wherever she is needed, Hayley has quickly become everything our animals — and our team — love.

And she isn't just here to pet puppies!

Hayley bottle-feeds our tiniest kittens, cleans kennels, helps administer vaccinations, assists with animal care and facilitates adoptions. She has been cross-trained throughout the shelter and has become a true asset to Ark. Now she has even added Saturdays to her schedule!

One thing Hayley believes strongly in is helping lost pets find their way back home. A tiny microchip can make a huge difference when a beloved dog or cat goes missing, and Hayley wants to help more LaGrange County pets have that protection.

So we're giving her a challenge.

Come out to Ark, meet Hayley and let her microchip your dog or cat for FREE! Simply tell us you read about Hayley in the newspaper. It's our way of introducing one of Ark's newest superstars while helping more pets find their way home if they ever become lost.

Speaking of superstars...

Those who have followed Ark for a while may remember our former Lakeland superstar, Mischa, and a password that became pretty memorable around here: MissingMischa!

We're happy to report that Mischa is now at Ball State University and having the time of her life. We couldn't be prouder. We already have plans for her future, too — we're hoping that after graduation, she finds her way right back to Ark and into a seat on our Board of Directors someday!

And stay tuned, because Prairie Heights isn't the only school sending talent our way. Our Lakeland Superstar will be featured in an upcoming post.

Young people like Hayley, Ivy, and Mischa remind us that animal rescue isn't just about the animals we help today. It's also about building the next generation of compassionate, capable people who will continue this work tomorrow.

So we'll leave you with one question:

Do YOU have superstar powers?

Maybe you can walk dogs. Maybe you're a champion kitten cuddler. Maybe you can clean, organize, socialize a scared animal, help at an event or simply give an animal a little extra love.

Whatever your superpower is, bring it on out to Ark.

We have plenty of animals waiting to meet you.

First open field of our 2026-27. Dingers were hit, skill were sharpened.

There was a call out meeting today for girls interested in playing this spring. There was a schedule given for fall open gyms. If your high school athlete did not grab one. Please make sure they stop by Coach Johns’ classroom asap to get one!

March, wya?!🤪❤️🖤🤍

💕 A Basket Full of Febie 💕

This Saturday at Clayton Messer’s Melanoma Awareness Benefit, you’ll have the chance to bid on this silent auction basket filled with so many of the little things that made me think of our sweet, Febie💗

Inside you’ll find some of her favorite things:
☕ Starbucks & Panda Express gift cards
🌹 A cozy fuzzy blanket with pink roses
🥤 A BrüMate tumbler
📖 A Bible
🩷 Pink energy drinks
🌸 Pink Ch*****ne EOS lotion
🥨 Dot’s Pretzels
🍬 Nerds Gummy Clusters
💄 Lip care products
🕯️ A candle
💅 Press-on nails
🧊 Needoh Nice Ice Baby

If you knew Febie, you know she would’ve loved every bit of this basket. More than that, she would have absolutely loved the opportunity to support Clayton and the Messer family, who meant so much to her. I can’t think of a more fitting way to honor her heart than by using the things she loved to help support people she loved.

By bidding on this basket, you’re not only taking home a collection of some of Febie’s favorite things—you’re also helping support a wonderful cause that’s making a difference.

We’d love to see our community come together this Saturday in Angola at Commons Park to support Clayton, raise awareness for melanoma, and continue showing up for one another the way Febie always did. Thank you for continuing to show so much love—not just for Febie, but for others in our community too. 🩷
