West Maui Dance Studio Policies, Procedures, and Dress Code Requirements
Dance studio rules are for the benefit of all students. We are committed to providing a safe, structured, and inspiring environment where students can grow artistically and personally. To ensure our studio operates smoothly and professionally, we ask that all families read and adhere to the following policies. Parents and guardians are expected to uphold these rules at all times. We emphasize the consistent practice of dance class and performance etiquette and dress code. Thank you for your continued cooperation!
Facility Rules and Procedures
Please treat the facility as you would your own home. We share the classroom space, bathroom, lobby area, and parking lot with others who use the building, so respectful behavior is expected at all times. Please ensure you take all personal items with you when you leave, and especially remove all trash from the common areas.
No food, drink, or gum is permitted in the dance studio. Water bottles only.
Dancers only are permitted to enter the studio during classes. Parents may watch from the entry area only and on designated viewing days only, to minimize distractions for dancers.
Dancers may not wear outside shoes into the studio.
Dropoff/Pickup
When dropping students for class, please get out of your car and es**rt them into the building. No student may be dropped off to hang around outside before West Maui Dance instructors have arrived.
At pickup, students must wait inside until a parent/guardian arrives. No student may walk to a car without a parent/guardian es**rt.
Please be courteous and do not be late to pick up your dancer. West Maui Dance is not responsible for late pickups.
If there is an emergency, please call or text us promptly so that we can plan accordingly.
This policy exists for the safety of your children. Thank you for your cooperation!
Dress Code
Students are encouraged to come dressed and ready for class. See below for details.
All personal items must be in a dedicated dance bag. Please put your dancer’s names on all personal items to avoid confusion, especially shoes and water bottles.
Hair must be pulled back into a bun for ballet, and a high ponytail for all other classes, no loose ends.
Dancers should remove all jewelry for class, especially watches and bracelets.
Lost and Found
Unclaimed items found after class are kept for 30 days before being donated or discarded. Please label all personal belongings, especially shoes and water bottles.
Attendance and Punctuality
Students should arrive 5-10 minutes before class time. Please use this time to use the restroom and warm up (stretch) before class.
Arrivals more than 15 minutes late may not be permitted to join class, at the instructor’s discretion.
If your child is sick or excessively late, we ask you communicate schedule difficulties/requests to Ms. Cassie as soon as they are known.
Missed classes can be made up with an appropriate class that best fits your child’s ability, at the instructor’s discretion.
Unfortunately, missed classes’ tuition cannot be prorated or applied towards a new month’s tuition or new session.
Performances and Rehearsals
West Maui Dance puts on two performances a year: a holiday showcase in December and a spring showcase in May. Dates and venues are TBD.
Sign-ups for performances occur within the first weeks of session once a performance date has been finalized.
Each dancer is required to purchase their costume(s) from West Maui Dance. Costumes are ordered in February/September when commitment to perform has been confirmed (they take a few months to be made and shipped). Commitment to perform INCLUDES commitment to attend rehearsals. A schedule will be released accordingly.
Costumes are not returnable/exchangeable—there are NO REFUNDS. Each family is required to pay in full.
Extra rehearsals will be scheduled closer to performance date. There are no additional tuition charges for extra rehearsals. All rehearsals for performances are mandatory to attend.
Tuition and Fees
Annual registration is required for all students. See below for fee breakdown.
Tuition is due on the first of the month. Any tuition received later than the fifth of the month will be subject to a late fee of $25.
Tuition is non-refundable and non-transferable: There are no refunds for missed classes, closures due to inclement weather, unavailability of space due to landlord’s schedule changes.
Tuition is based on a four-week session with closures for certain holidays. Payment is for the full month session only; some months have extra classes but no extra tuition due.
Tuition must be paid every month to maintain your dancer’s spot in the class: If you choose to take a month-long vacation, you must continue your tuition payment or you may lose your child’s spot to the next dancer on the waitlist.
Private lessons must be canceled 24 hours prior to class to avoid being charged.
We accept Venmo (-Brockway-1), credit card, cash, and check. There will be a $25.00 fee for all returned checks.
You may also sign up for automatic payments.
Monthly Fees:
$84 (1 class/week)
$125 (2 classes/week)
$155 (3 classes/week)
$200 (4 classes/week)
$285 (unlimited classes/month)
Family rate: 10% discounted total price for 2 or more siblings (class fees are not transferable to other students)
