Lake Bluff Nordic Ski Club

Did some reconnaissance skiing this morning at the golf course. Hard pack and very firm and patches of ice and frozen puddles in the low spots where you might expect them. Otherwise, decent skiing. Classic track is a little shallow but for the most part still there. The skate deck looks really firm. Sign says trails are closed but that really means we aren’t grooming the official trail. If you want to go ski, go for it. Remember, these are special days. We are lucky to have skiable snow in December. Have a great weekend.

Well, the rain did the damage overnight. Course is pretty water-logged. Would not recommend skiing for now. On the positive side, temps will be falling through the end of the week and light snow is in the forecast. Stay tuned and we will give updates later this week.

Fresh tracks this morning after grooming Monday night. Who doesn’t love corduroy! For those wondering, distance for all groomed loops is 3.5 MI or 5.63 KM. Get out and enjoy the snow today!

Well, that was a nice snowfall overnight. Track is groomed and ready for skiing. Have a great ski today.

Another cold morning. Another great ski. Track is holding up nicely. Firm and fast. Not planning to groom until we get more snow. Trying to preserve what we have as long as we can. Have a great ski out there today.

Cold, sunny morning. Track is firm for both classic and skate. A little leaf debris here and there. Take advantage of these early days.
As a side note, and this is not directed at this group, but i noticed footprints on the skate trail almost all the way around the course. If you see someone walking on the trail please kindly ask them not to do that. The divot marks from their boots deteriorate the trail and they are difficult to groom out. Thank you! My new boots are getting a lot of workouts so far this year. Groomed Monday night and skied this morning. Trail is wind blown in a few spots but otherwise in great shape. Go enjoy a ski today. Love seeing pictures of skiers on the trail so feel free to share.

The inch or so of new snow last night really helped fill in some areas. Got out for an early ski and the classic tracks are nice! Deciding to wait until this evening to groom. Not really needed yet. Get out and ski today. Take advantage of these great conditions!

Trails are groomed and open. Not my best work but good enough. Snow is so deep it was hard to keep everything smooth.
