So far this season, McNeese has yet to hold a halftime lead against a Division I opponent:

• vs SFA — trailed 24-7
• vs Tarleton — trailed 14-7
• at UTRGV — trailed 17-3

The Cowboys’ last halftime lead against a D-I opponent came 317 days ago, on Nov. 8, 2025, when they led East Texas A&M 21-10.

The last time McNeese led at halftime against a D-I opponent that finished with a winning record was Nov. 11, 2023, vs. Houston Christian.

McNeese led 17-14 at the break before HCU came back to win 35-24.

Throwback to what a 1970 home game for McNeese looked like.

*Unconfirmed*, but I think this season-finale game is against No. USL in a Gulf States Conference game that drew 14,000 people.

McNeese would finish the season 5-6 and 2-3 in conference for a 3rd-place finish.

Went 19-14 overall with a 12-5 home record before falling in 3OT to Tulsa in the AAC Tournament.

MATCHUP HISTORY:

McNeese and Tarleton meet for the fifth time Saturday with the series tied 2-2.

McNeese won a 40-37 overtime thriller during Tarleton’s first Division I season, capped by Cody Orgeron’s 19-yard TD run.

The Texans have won the last two meetings, including 52-34 in their most recent trip to Lake Charles. Saturday gives the Cowboys a chance to end that streak and retake the series lead, but it will be an uphill battle against the No. 4-ranked team in the FCS.
