Congratulations to Kip Texada and the Ward 3 Recreation Board for their leadership, vision, and commitment to our community. Thanks to their hard work—and the support made possible through the renewed tax funding—numerous public recreation sites are now nearing completion. These projects represent a major investment in the quality of life for families across Ward 3, and they stand as a testament to what thoughtful planning and community support can achieve.
It is especially meaningful that one of these renovated sites was once led by former board member and longtime principal, Coach Solomon Cannon. His decades of service, mentorship, and impact on young people continue to shape this community. Seeing his former campus revitalized stands as a powerful tribute to his legacy and the lasting mark he left on Ward 3.

Ward 3 Recreation is aware of an incident that occurred in the parking lot of the Ward 3 Power Center on Thursday, June 5th. Earlier that afternoon, an altercation took place between two groups at a separate location in Lake Charles. When law enforcement was contacted regarding that situation, the individuals involved left that location, entered their vehicles, and drove to the Power Center parking lot, where the dispute continued.
It is important to clarify that this incident did not involve any Ward 3 Recreation patrons, programs, or activities, and did not occur inside any Ward 3 facility. The safety of our community members is our highest priority, and at no point were our guests or staff part of the altercation.
Ward 3 Recreation will continue to cooperate fully with local law enforcement and remains committed to providing safe, welcoming, and family‑focused environments across all of our facilities.

Today we honor someone whose impact can’t be measured in years, titles, or accomplishments — though she has plenty of those. Instead, her legacy lives in the countless lives she touched simply by being who she is: the kindest, most genuine, most steadfast person we’ve ever known.
A devoted teacher, she poured wisdom, patience, and encouragement into every student who crossed her path. She didn’t just teach lessons — she shaped character, sparked confidence, and made every child feel seen and capable.
A woman of deep faith, she carried her beliefs not as words but as daily acts of compassion, humility, and grace. Her life has been a quiet testimony to what it means to love people well.
A dedicated mother, she raised her family with the same warmth and strength she shared with the world — always present, always supportive, always leading with love.
And to so many of us, she has been a true friend — the kind who listens without judgment, prays without hesitation, and shows up without being asked. The kind of friend you don’t just appreciate… you treasure.
So, from me…I will always smile when I think about Gail Vincent, because as many people as I know, I have never met anyone like you. Everyone needs someone as special as you in their lifetime.
All my love and prayers,
Your admirer,
René’

May this day be a gentle celebration of every woman who has ever mothered us—whether through birth, through love, or through the quiet, steadfast ways she helped us become who we are.
To the women still with us, may they feel the gratitude that often goes unspoken but never unfelt.
To the women who have passed, may their memory continue to warm the rooms they once filled with laughter, guidance, and grace.
Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day from your Ward 3 Recreation family!!
