10 am today-Ward 3 Recreation is making history…

Ward 3 Recreation has always been proud of the young athletes who come through our programs — and this week, that pride traveled all the way to Alexandria.

Our Athletic Director, Nick, who not only leads our recreation athletics but also serves as a respected football and basketball official, made the trip to Louisiana College for a preseason event. It wasn’t just business — it was personal. He went to support one of our own, Adonis Cannon, grandson of the late and beloved Coach Cannon, whose legacy still echoes through Southwest Louisiana athletics.

Adonis officially committed to LC football on scholarship last spring, beginning his collegiate career this year. Seeing him step confidently into this next chapter is a moment of pride not only for his family, but for everyone at Ward 3 Recreation who watched him grow, compete, and carry forward the Cannon name with honor.

Nick was able to connect with Adonis on the field, share encouragement, and let him know that his hometown, Lake Charles and Washington Marion — and his Ward 3 family — is behind him every step of the way. Moments like this remind us why we do what we do: building athletes, building character, and building lifelong community ties.

Adonis represents the best of our youth — discipline, heart, and a drive to succeed. And as he begins his journey at Louisiana College, we celebrate not just his achievement, but the Cannon legacy he will continue.
