Sticks & Stones Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu We are a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy located in Downtown Lake City, Florida.

At Sticks and Stones BJJ we are a traditional family oriented Brazilian jiu-jitsu school located in Lake City Florida. Our facilities are a close drive from Lake Butler, High Springs, Ft White, and Live Oak. Our philosophy is to teach and encourage our students that through respect and discipline in training you can achieve physical and mental strength, as you and your training progress not only will your technique improve you will cultivate stronger character and become a more well rounded athlete. Our focus is on providing a safe, structured, and clean training environment that emphasizes impeccable technique straight from the Gracie source. We believe in consistent and intelligent practice with constant repetition using leverage and timing thus preserving our training partners while still gaining the ability to bring a real adversary into submission.

Newbreed is coming to Jacksonville on Saturday, October 24th!

If you’ve been thinking about competing, go ahead and talk to Coach Corey or Coach Mike so we can help you get registered and start preparing. Don’t wait until the last minute — having a competition on the calendar gives you something to work toward and helps us make sure you’re ready when the day comes.

Competition isn’t just about winning medals. It’s a chance to challenge yourself, build confidence, test your jiu-jitsu, and find out what you need to improve.

Kids class is always a good time.

They get to learn Jiu-Jitsu, burn some energy, make friends, and learn how to keep going when things get tough.

We love watching them get more confident, more focused, and a little better every week.

Back to school is here! 🎒📚

Parents, you’ve got the backpacks, school supplies, new clothes, and everything else your kids need to start the year off right.

But what about confidence?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gives kids more than just a way to defend themselves. It teaches them how to stay calm under pressure, handle tough situations, build confidence, and believe in themselves.

You can’t always be there when your child faces a difficult situation, but you can help give them the tools to handle it.

Happy Birthday to Coach Steve!

Steve has been a huge part of our kids program for years, volunteering his time and helping new students learn the fundamentals of Jiu-Jitsu. More importantly, he has a way of making everyone feel welcome, included, and like they are part of the team.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve had several of our students step onto the mats at local competitions.

We’re proud of everyone who competed. It takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there, test your skills, and represent the gym. Win or lose, every match is a chance to learn and come back better.

Thank you to all the coaches, teammates, and families who showed up to support them. We’re proud of the way everyone represented our team.

Jiu-jitsu is tough.

Parents usually notice the physical part first.
But what makes jiu-jitsu so special is the mental side.

Kids learn how to stay calm when things get hard, keep going when they’re tired, and come back after getting stuck or losing.

That’s where the growth happens.

It’s not always easy, but it builds confidence, toughness, and character that carries far beyond the mat.

Today was filled with takedowns, teamwork, laughs, and lots of energy on the mats! These kids are building confidence, making new friends, and learning that they can do hard things while having a blast. We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
