Welcome to our first Caxy Athletes of the Month! Every month, we’ll ask our coaches to nominate student athletes they believe should be recognized in our community for reasons including good sportsmanship, embodiment of the four pillars, trying something new, overcoming adversity, and game performance. Our August Caxy Athletes of the Month are:

–Adrian ’28 (boys soccer): “Adrian plays forward for the boys varsity soccer team. He has shown tremendous growth from his sophomore year regarding his soccer IQ. He has filled some big shoes from last year’s seniors scoring most of our goals over the past two years. Adrian’s primary job is to score goals. He has 11 of them in five games, which is an impressive clip.”

–June ’29 (field hockey): “June stepped up to be the junior varsity goalie and has maintained a positive attitude trying a new position. She agreed without hesitation to step in where her team needed her. Great example of character and responsibility!”

We’re pumped to be hosting the Chicago Icebreaker hockey tournament this weekend! It’ll be a full three days of games at MacKenzie Ice Arena – don’t miss the LFA boys prep ice hockey team in action Friday at noon, Saturday at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m.

For more than 15 years, girls cross country has taken a day off from practice to spend an afternoon volunteering at Feed My Starving Children and that tradition continued on yesterday! The team packed 57 boxes of food which will support children living with food insecurity. Way to go, Caxys!

Girls swimming adds a win to their record after a strong showing last night in a dual match against Wheeling! The Caxys put up 90 points to the host’s 46 and finished in first in nearly every event of the meet: 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle, 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 100 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, and 400 freestyle relay.

Boys cross country left their competition in the dust at last night’s LFA Open! The team put on a dominant display in their home opener, finishing in first place with a resounding 18 points and sweeping the podium.

Girls cross country made their mark on the course last night in their home opener! Abbey ’28 led the pack at the LFA Open, winning the race in a time of 21:15.66, followed closely behind by teammate Maiko ’28, who finished in third place at 23:59.12. The team finished in an impressive second place overall with 38 points, falling behind first-place Willows by just one point.

The girls tennis team was busy stacking wins over Labor Day Weekend as the Caxys took first place at the Cougar Classic hosted by Vernon Hills. LFA won two of three doubles flights with everyone finishing in the top 3.

First conference game ➡️ first conference win!

Boys Varsity Soccer sits at 1-1 following their opening games, putting up an impressive 4-0 win over ISL conference opponent Francis Parker on Friday that saw Adrian ’28 sink all four goals and Gio ’27 hold down the shutout from the box. The team looks to carry the momentum into this week’s Evanston Township Invitational, with the first game tonight at 7 p.m. against the host team.
