Be mindful of your emotions without judgment. Honestly, this is really hard for me. I feel guilty for some of the things I feel. Especially guilt related to social anxiety. I’m missing out right this minute on a school event for my son. I have a bad headache, which is reason enough to bow out, but I’d be supremely uncomfortable right now going at all. I just can’t handle the people at the moment. I’m letting my judgements blow away and trying to enjoy a little quiet.

Be mindful of your emotions without judgment. You heard me right. Without judgement. You have a right to your emotions, no questions asked. Feel them, but breathe and let them flow naturally from distress to rest.

I really struggle with this one. I want to please people, but I can’t do that all of the time. Sometimes withdrawing is the healthiest thing for me.Step back. Protect yourself. Explain later, or not. Personally, I am very open about being bipolar. It means I don’t have to explain anything. A unique freedom not afforded to “normal” people.

It’s okay to be tired of trying so hard every single day. Give yourself a little grace and credit for simply showing up in life. Sometimes it’s the best you can do. I had one of those days yesterday. It was really challenging to take a step back and say, “No. I can’t do more today.” It was worth the discomfort. I rested and spent time alone, even though it meant the laundry didn’t get folded and my son had too much screen time. I feel better for it today.

I just love this post by Britney Spears. Check her out on IG for some really quirky content. She’s always herself, which I love. Burning bridges is sometimes necessary for healthy boundaries. Grab your matches! Take good care of yourself today. You deserve it.

Just for giggles. Who else feels me on the medication roller coaster? I’m doing great on current meds, but boy did I go through it trying to find what works for me! Thank goodness for DBT skills to help get me through the rough patches when meds were not working or even making life worse.

This emotion regulation skill is finally getting easier for me. I had to practice it a lot before it became a habit. You can lie in reclined bound angle pose and begin to breathe mindfully (I like a pillow under my spine and head with blocks under each knee). Notice your emotion and describe it to yourself. Observe how it changes or shifts to new emotions. Make note of any impulse to bury or act on the emotion, but don’t do either of those things. Keep watching until the emotion diminishes. Try it for 5 minutes. If you are like me, you can set a timer to go off so you aren’t distracted wondering how much time has passed.
