I saw that City are wearing these warmup tops to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Agüero’s last minute goal to win the league. It reminded me of a game in Scottsdale. Final game of the league season. Needed a win for promotion. These kids battled. Sam stopped so many shots. Drew got hurt. Then, in the dying moments, Austyn, wearing the #1 shirt, capitalized on a mistake and went around the keeper to score. Moments later the whistle blew. These boys had won stuff before. However, after this game, I ran out into the field to celebrate. It was amazing. No medals or trophies on the line, just harder opponents to come, and they played like it meant the world to them. Some of these boys had their last day of high school today, including my son. Fine young men, all of them, that will make their mark on this world.
