Moved on to Lake Monroe after Lake Dias didn’t work out. Seven Specks, and an angry little gar. I thought I had a bass as it was tugging drag bad on my super ultralight, it turned out to be a fat 13 1/2” speck.

Tried Lake Dias today. Five different boats on the lake revving and racing to work out carburetor issues, according to them. They were all apologetic, but I couldn’t stay there and fish. I did catch 2 bluegill before I left.

I haven’t had a truck since April, so it’s been almost impossible to take the kayak out. So I remembered my inner redneck and got ‘er done!
A limit of Mangrove Snapper and a Horse Mullet that wanted to play.

I’m experimenting with “live wells” for my Hobie Compass. There’s much less room in the Compass than in the Outback or Pro Angler, so I have limited myself to a 5 gallon bucket profile. I’ve also figured out that an aerator only is not sufficient in the summer, so I need a water recycle instead or in addition.
I have 2 versions right now: a 1.5 gallon/minute diaphragm bilge that also required a prime bulb and a 750 gallon/hour submersible bilge. Both allow water to overflow the bucket and drain out the scupper holes. Each will have their application based on bait type and water temp.

A recent saltwater trip to Callalisa Creek in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. I catch a personal best Redfish and do my best to drop it back in the water to loose it.
