Headstand, 4 ways đ¤¸ââď¸
not different hand placementsâdifferent ways to explore the shape, the sensation, and what it feels like to place your head on the mat.
1. Childâs Pose
always an option đ¤ gently move the head side to side to massage the forehead.
2. Rabbit Pose
from childâs pose, tuck the toes and hold onto the ankles or heels. tuck the chin to the chest and place the top of the head down. press into the heels and shift forward to stretch through the backs of the shoulders.
3. Headstand
with hands interlaced behind the head (weâll break this down more soon đ)
4. L-shape
if youâre working on handstand, lower the legs to create an l and explore strength + control.
this month is about play and presence â¨
have fun and enjoy it. đĽ°
save this post to remember different options!
what version are you working on today? đ¤

This month, weâre exploring play & presence âď¸
June arrives as summer begins to unfoldâlife feeling a little fuller, a little faster, more social, more bright đż
In the middle of it all, weâre practicing staying present with whatâs here. Not stepping out of life, but learning how to stay in it more fully đ§ââď¸
And alongside that, weâre inviting play back in. Tapping into a lighter way of being. Letting things feel a little less serious. A little more like you. On the mat and off it â¨
Throughout the month, each week will offer a simple theme to support thisâcoming back to presence, and remembering how to have fun while doing it.
Less pressure. More presence.
More space to play đ¤

Yoga Sutra 1.13 builds on the idea of practiceâPatanjali describes it as the steadiness of the mind.
Not just on the mat⌠but all the time.
Yikes.
In a way, yesâwe are practicing yoga in every moment. But not because weâre meant to be constantly doing something.
Practice isnât about forcing or fixing. Itâs about becoming aware.
Noticing. Observing. Tuning into the thoughts, emotions, and patterns that move through you.
Because most of us live on autopilot more often than we realizeâreacting before we reflect, getting caught in old stories, assuming our thoughts are facts.
Practice invites a pause.
What is the mind saying right now?
What am I feeling?
How is that shaping the way Iâm showing up?
The goal isnât to judge what you find. Itâs simply to see it.
And in that seeing, you create space to chooseâhow you respond, how you move forward, who you want to be.
Thatâs where freedom begins.
Steadiness of mind doesnât mean the mind stops moving. It means youâre no longer pulled in every direction by it.
This is the practiceâboth on and off the mat đ¤

â
Our pose of the month is headstand.
And before that brings anything upâjust know, we can PLAY here. You donât have to do a headstand. You donât have to go upside down at all. Even something like childâs pose can be a variation.
This month is about exploring, staying curious, and finding what works for you.
Benefits of headstand (and its variations):
⢠Builds strength in the shoulders, arms, and core
⢠Encourages focus and body awareness
⢠Supports circulation and energy flow
⢠Can help shift perspectiveâphysically and mentally
⢠Invites confidence through exploration and play
Looking forward to playing with you this month đ¤

đ Did you know Onyx offers private yoga sessions?
As we move into the final week of Meditation MayâIntegrationâweâre reminded that the practice doesnât end when class does. It comes with you into your life, your routines, your relationships.
And as we move into summer and life becomes a little more social, this can be a beautiful way to gatherâintentionally. âď¸
Private sessions offer space to connect, slow down, and share something meaningful together.

Meditation May đż
Week 4: Integration
Meditation isnât always peaceful. Sometimes itâs uncomfortable. Sometimes the mind wonât settle. Sometimes whatâs there is the very thing youâd rather avoid.
Thereâs a balance weâre learning to feel intoâ
when to sit with something, and when to loosen your grip on it.
Not pushing it away, but not letting it take over either.
This is the practice as it moves into real life.
Not just on the mat, but in the middle of everything.
Returning. Softening. Figuring it out as you go. đ¤
