I'm excited to be offering an adult beginners class! If you are afraid of the water, this is for you!
Join me Sunday, June 28th for a 1 hour introduction to water competency! My indoor pool is small and private, heated to 89° and 3.5 feet deep so it's the perfect place to take this first BIG step in learning to swim.
I have over 25 years experience teaching beginners of all ages and believe no one should feel they are too old to learn to love the water!
Feel free to reach out with any questions! Sign up for this workshop through the SWUM app and reserve your spot today!
Goggles are great! For competition. But for learning to swim they are a hindrance that is not necessary to have. They will leak, they will fall off, they will cause tears for small children who don't have the motor skills to put them on properly.
If a child never learns to swim WITHOUT goggles, then I don't believe they ever learn to truly swim. Water competence and water confidence is what promotes water safety. If you don't have either without goggles then its a problem.
Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death of children ages 1-4 and 70% of fatal drowning occur during non-swim times. Times when the child is not wearing goggles.
If your swimmer NEEDS goggles to swim, please reach out for some strategies and tricks to wean them off of rhe goggles. If your swimmer is just starting out, skip the goggles!!
Soooo important! Layers of protection are the only way to prevent drowning and respond quickly to a drowning event. Lessons are only 1 layer. ALWAYS designate ONE adult to watch the water. If everyone is watching, no one is vigilant. Pool fenced, dock gates, door alarms are all necessary to protect people from the water.
No matter how good a person is at swimming, they are NEVER "safe" in the water. Drowning can happen to anyone at anytime.
