When you’ve got books you can’t add to one of your many genres…

Ground number 50 in the Englush Leagues but thanks to new stadiums and the pyramid I’m only at 40/92.

Life lessons for folk (might include me) who plan for every contingency
Car issues last week so cancelled airport parking and booked taxi for 2 1/2 hours before flight.
Drop car off at garage, leisurely walk back to house to wait ten minutes for taxi.
They phone but to say no taxis.
Rural village, pouring with rain, no chance of another taxi.
Village bus left as I was walking home (who knew I needed it).
Pouring with rain so get golf waterproofs on.
Walk twenty minutes to bus stop, some cars enjoy splashing you.
Meet a friend who is going into town via bus and train.
So download train ticket and wait for bus, first one ignores is.
Second one gets us to train station.
Train ticket can’t activate so I’m told to see gate staff in Glasgow.
So my ticket is for tomorrow.
They make me buy a new ticket which I do online but as that train hasn’t left they won’t let me through the gate.
Found a gate attendant who didn’t study my ticket and let me through.
Walk to bus stop, roadworks, bus stop closed.
Walk to next one and see airport bus pulling away.
They’re every ten minutes so that’s fine.
Security deserted so good but they pull most bags including mine.
Get through to find gate, I’m there five minutes before gate called!
45 years of adulting building in contingencies for things that could go wrong has finally paid off! Super delighted and proving my previous actions over those years were worthwhile .
And I had a good chat with a friend and I might consider this route instead of car in future.
So many wins!!

One more weekend completed as we head to the play offs, as discussed on our latest podcast. Hamish is relying on the Red & White Sox to give us glory. Top weekend in Boston whilst White Sox didn't get help from Tigers who lost 3 late games to Guardians.

For half the Highland Bullpen it's death by 1000 cuts this season although the end is truly nigh now we'd imagine.
And it's squeaky bum time (is that phrase used in USA?) for the other 50%

I visit War Memorials, primarily to pay me respects but also a lot of military and historical significance. I took the opportunity here to research the "history" of my own village War Memorial which might be of interest for folk wanting to understand a little bit more of the background of these.
