RULEBOOK UPDATE!
The National Jam Skating League has updated its rules.
Here’s what you need to know. 👇
AGE STIPULATIONS - A skater’s age on the first day of the season determines which league they compete in. The first day of the season shall be the first day of the first circuit tournament, OR the first day of Summer Jam, if no circuit is held.
TOURNAMENTS - JSL tournaments will consist of Summer Jam (the national championship) and, when it becomes practical, a Competitive Jam Skating Circuit of qualifier events held around the country.
TIME LIMITS - In all leagues of skaters under the age of 18, skaters will get 45 seconds per round in battles. Final battles will be 3 rounds. Performances will be 60 seconds. All time limits, and rounds for Major league (18+) remain unchanged.
SCORING / JUDGING SCALE - The judging scale will now be 0-10 (including half points) up from 0-5 in both battles and performances. This allows judges to give a more exact and precise score. For performances, X-Factor will remain at 0-3 (including half points.)
PERFORMANCE INFRACTIONS - Similar to “Battle Infractions” that were added in the past, there’s now a list of performance infractions that a referee can give out warnings for, or deduct points for.
LEADERBOARD - Leaderboard points have been adjusted to accommodate lower minimum competitors for a league, and to “future-proof” in anticipation of Competitive Jam Skating Circuit events.
GENERAL RULES REMINDERS / CLARIFICATIONS - Under the official uniform definition, roller skates must be worn continuously throughout a battle or performance. Any and all props not explicitly listed as allowed, including but not limited to phones, move lists, cups, and water bottles, are prohibited. Including extra skaters in a solo performance/battle, or extra skaters not officially on a team in a team performance/battle is prohibited. Violating these rules can lead to warnings, and/or point deductions by the referee in both battles and performances.
