During Mental Health Awareness Month, we had the opportunity to attend the Miami stop of Score with the incredible Kennedy Ryan. An author whose storytelling creates space for emotional honesty, healing, vulnerability, love, grief, and resilience in ways that deeply resonate with our community.
There’s something powerful about seeing Black stories centered with softness, complexity, passion, mental health awareness, and emotional depth. Moments like this remind us why Piece Of Zen believes healing can happen through movement, conversation, community and books.
From the energy in the room to the conversations sparked afterward, this experience felt bigger than a book tour stop — it felt like a reminder that storytelling is wellness too 💛
Have you read a book? Let us know which one.

Our May's mental health Zen & Juicy Reads meetup with book Chicago Blues gave us exactly what we needed. A space to slow down, laugh, reflect, and discuss mental health topics over brunch at the cozy Cuban-Italian spot Carmine's in Ybor.
One of the most meaningful moments was our sponsor .williamsrn2001 gifting attendees journals & custom aprons as a reminder that kitchens can be more than places to cook… they can become spaces for healing, storytelling, culture, comfort, and connection with the people we love most.
Because sometimes mental restoration looks like:
✨ learning new recipes on social media
✨ yap & watching a friend cook after a hard week
✨ Sunday dinners with family
✨ trying something new
✨ or simply gathering around a table where you feel safe to be yourself
Thank you to everyone who showed up with openness, vulnerability, and patience. Zen & Juicy Reads has become one of our favorite forms of community care 💙
What’s one meal or kitchen memory that brings you comfort? 🍽️
