✨SENIOR SPOTLIGHT✨
It’s Monday and today we want to celebrate another one of our Class of 2027 seniors. Next up, Goal Keeper, #1, Captain Owen Tyma!
This is Owen’s 4th year on the Cougar Boys Soccer Team and has been playing soccer since he could walk. One of Owen’s favorite memories is winning this year’s South vs North trophy! GO COUGARS! The way Owen prepares for a game are a lot of mental preparations like certain songs or people he greets and also the amount of time he gives himself to prepare early. He always looks for time cues to set himself into game day, like digging his fingers into the field to get a feel for the pitch, walking in his socks during stretches before hitting a ball around and getting into dynamics. He does multiple things to get every part of himself ready for that first whistle! He also listens to either Thiago Silva or his favorite artist Nur-D. (Thiago Silva is not clean)
His favorite thing about being a senior is being able to look back at everything, both good and bad, that have occurred so far and look at how many people he’s met with each new year. His advice for young players is to speak up and don’t just sit and wait for someone else to answer or do something for you. Every single player has a voice no matter what part of the field or bench, so why not use that voice for good rather than shy away.
After high school, Owen is majoring in biochemistry before moving to a graduate program for dentistry.
We wish you the best of luck with your senior year at Lakeville South!
